Chapter 1:
December 1
Dear Diary,
I had a feeling that something terrible was going to happen today.
I don’t know why I wrote that. It’s outrageous. I have no reason to be upset, but every reason to be happy, but here I am at 8:30 in the evening, scared. But that doesn’t explain why I feel so lost.
The 日 before I left Virginia Beach, while I was gather a bag full of clothes. I came across five old journals, leather covers with old coffee stained pages. They were my great Uncle Jonathans’ journals; he was one of the first founder families in Mystic Falls and believed that there were 吸血鬼 living among them there. My father, John Gilbert, also believed there were 吸血鬼 in Mystic Falls. He made me and my mother, Sara Gilbert, 移动 to Virginia 海滩 when I was six.
It was about four weeks ago, I came 首页 from school to find my mother lying on the floor, her skin was white, like someone had painted her, though she was ice cold. She had blood, fizzing out of two small holes in her neck. My thoughts went straight to vampires, but that was crazy, 吸血鬼 aren’t real. I waited for my dad to come 首页 that night, but he didn’t, he didn’t come 首页 that whole week. I left Virginia Beach, hoping to find my dad again.
Walking back into Mystic falls was nerve racking, but yet it pulled me in even more, like rope tied to my waist and someone pulling on the other end, dragging me. Breathing in the fresh forest wood, made me smile, though I didn’t know how today would play out, because right now everything looks strange to me, as if I don't belong here. But it’s me that's out of place. And the worst thing is that I feel there's somewhere I do belong, but I just can't find it.
I don’t know how coming back would solve all my problems, though I think it could.
I stood outside of their house, staring, like it was a part of history I hadn’t discovered yet, beautiful, peaceful but torn up with memories, scared from history. It was my Auntie and Uncles house; they had lived in that house basically since forever, with their two kids Elena and Jeremy. I hadn’t been back since their death, mostly because I thought it would be too hard to face them, since I had soulless parents, they weren’t the same when they found out that they had died. The house though, was still that bright pale white and deep dark blue, like nothing had happened. I didn’t know how I was going to tell them, I know I was putting my feeling behind a wall, trying to protect them, because they had 迷失 so much, Jenna, our Auntie and their 老友记 , but I didn’t know how they would react, their parents, now mine, gone. I couldn’t go into the house, not yet anyway.

Madison Gilbert looked at the page she had just scribbled on, her hand trembling with 更多 words exploding at the tip of her pen, but she placed the pen down on the old oval pine table. The low light from the lamps shade above her, shimmered light around her, there were four other oval shaped tables around her, above each 表 was a lamp shade with a mini lamp sitting in the middle of each table. A few people sat at the bar, but one person stood out to her. He was wearing a black leather jacket, but he seemed like a shadow 或者 a ghost, like he wasn’t real, but he was. There were a few people playing pool, around two pool tables. She could hear the balls clanking together, as they hit each other, their laughter rang through her ears, as she closed her diary, her fingers creasing the velvet dark red cover, as she gently put the book into her bag. She spotted that the walls were chopped up stones glued together, like bricks.
She glanced over at the 六边形, 内六角 shaped glass, the rays from the lamps light, made the water sparkle.
Madison noticed her reflection in the spring water, her face was enchanting, as her 橄榄 skin glowed in the low light, her hair was a dazzling dark brown with maroon red highlights, she had it pulled up into a lose 小马 tail, she was short for a 17 年 old, but she had a slim build, what everybody noticed was her eyes, deep sea blue with 草 green speckles, they drew people in. She looked back over to the bar, he was still there, though he turned quickly as if he was looking at her but didn’t want her to know. She giggled quietly to herself, as she looked down to the pine table.
Madison glimpsed up to see a young man looking down upon her, his wavy golden blonde hair swayed around his face, his eyes a glowing brown. He looked at her, like he knew her but they hadn’t seen each other for years, and then his face lit up. “Madison, Madison Gilbert is that you” His voice, honey soft, as he was surprised to see her.
“Um, yeah” Her voice hidden, as she looked up at him puzzled. He leaned 更多 into his bent knee, as he laughed out a smile, flopping his up to his chest.
“It’s me Matt, Matt Donovan. Elena’s best friend” He 说 still smiling, while handing her a menu.
She sat back in her chair, as she started putting the pieces together.
Matt was one of Elena’s best friends, they had been ever since they went to kindergarten together. Over the years they become very close to each other, he looked after Jeremy if he needed it and to Madison, if she wanted help. They went out, thinking that if they went out, they would 爱情 each forever just like the movies, but it didn’t happen that way for them.
“Oh hey, how 你 been” Her voice coming out of its shell.
“I’ve been good, how are you? Are 你 staying in Mystic Falls?” He pulled the 座位 from the other side of the 表 out and sat down. His broad shoulders sat perfectly across the 最佳, 返回页首 of the chair.
“I’m good thanks, I’m going to stay for awhile” She smiled, as she looked back at the dazzling water, the light dancing like a ballerina, twirling on their tippy toes across the silky water. They talked for awhile, catching up on each other’s lives, laughing and giggling like two little kids.
“Well I think Elena and Jeremy would 爱情 that, I mean if 你 stay” He said, fixing up the salt and pepper.
“You really think so” Her voice soft, he nodded yes towards her.
“Yeah, I know Elena has missed you, and Jeremy, I think he needs you, they both do” He leaned back into his chair.
“They need me? That’s weird last time they saw they told they never wanted to see me again” She started biting her finger nail. They were in awkward silence for a 分钟 或者 two.
“Can I ask 你 something?”
“yeah, of course” She sat forward.
“You were gone for three years, what made 你 come back” He asked strongly.
“I came back because, I belong here, its home” Her eyes sparkled in the low light, Matt got up from the table, pushing his chair in. Madison handed him back the menu, as she grabbed her bag.
“They don’t know your here yet, do they” Matt 说 cheekily.
“No, not yet” Madison looked down at the ground, suddenly shame washing over her.
“Maddie, so it’s been awhile since 你 have been back, but they will be so happy to see you” Madison looked up at him from under her lashes, as he looked at her with his hand on her shoulder.
“Trust me” she smiled, as he smiled with her.
“Thanks Matt, 你 were always that guy that knew how to cheer a person up” He laughed, looking down at the ground, his hands in his pockets, and looking back at her under his lashes.
“Yip, I was always that guy” He looked around, as his nervous levels raised.
“So, 你 work here” Madison said, cutting the nervous tension that was, now back her into a corner.
“Yeah, I have been working here since, about a 月 after my sister left town, little did I know that she was dead” He 说 walking towards the door, Madison following him. Matt was really close to his sister Vicki, mostly because Vicki needed him, but he needed her more, she just didn’t realise that. Madison and Vicki, when they were little were like sisters, but then Vicki turned against Madison, like a demon had taken over her body. Everyone had always wondered what had happened between them, sometimes Madison wished they could still be friends, but it just never happened.
“Vicki is dead” She was now on his heels, surprise that no one had 说 anything to her. They stopped 由 the bar.
“Matt I’m sorry” She looked at him, her eyes full of sorrow.
“Thanks, that means a lot” His eyes calm along with his smile, as they hugged, something he needed 更多 than her.
“Hey it was nice talking to you”
“See 你 around, Maddie” She watched, as he walked off to wipe down an empty table.
Madison pressed the palm of her hand against the wooden door of the Mystic Grill, walking into the darken night.
The streets were dimly lit 由 the towering 街, 街道 lights with the flickering bulbs. The kind of atmosphere 给 off 由 a cheesy horror film, unsurprisingly to the 最近的 degree, but all the same she walked the streets alone, unafraid.
Though there was one aspect challenging the scene. The smell. The air was fresh and clean, 你 could smell the moist leaves lying motionless, where they had been swept in the breeze of the day. 你 could smell the low humidity mixed with the smell of faint burning. To her, that smell was the sweetest of all smells. The peacefulness of the night.
Madison walked along the pavement, the full moon, looked like a massive spot light, drawn to her as she moved along the side walk. The winter breeze danced around her, like a playful 小狗 full of excitement. She noticed the 街, 街道 lights were coming to a stop, but she carried on into the misty dark streets. The breeze blew past some big old oak trees, making them look like zombies, bushes rattled as she walked past them, expecting a monster to jump out and eat her. She hurried along the side walk, pushing the horror films and creatures out of her wondering mind.
She came to a halt, as she stood 《冰雪奇缘》 in front of a frightening metal gate, the metal arch that was attached to the gate, gloomed over her, fear rattling her bones. As she pushed the gate opened, it squeaked as the rusted hinges rubbed together. She glanced beyond the opened gate, her 心 booming out of her chest, like a loud speaker playing music. The tree’s swayed in the winter breeze, their bodies like skeletons, dead. Leaves twirled in the gentle gust, like little tornadoes ripping at the bottom of the 树 stumps.
She hurried through the gate way, entering The Mystic Falls Cemetery.
She staggered into the shadows of the cemetery, low fog lingered around her ankles as she made her way to her Uncle and Aunts grave.
The 花 she had picked on the way were beautiful, bright red 玫瑰 floating in the middle of the perfectly white lilies. Madison placed the 花 down across the bottom of the head stone, her fingers creasing their names that were stamped into the stone.
Madison’s bag flopped off her shoulder, landing motionless on a 床, 床上 of dried up leaves. She sat facing her Auntie and Uncles headstone, her back leaning against another headstone.
She noticed 火, 消防 flies soaring around her, flicking on and off as they drift in the night sky. She pulled her knees up to her chest, wrapping her arms around them. As a 火, 消防 fly fluttered near her, she placed her hand out to the glowing bug. He landed on her finger, gracefully. His light blazed across her fingers, as he trotted over them. She heard a 乌鸦 squawking, searching the 太空 around her, her eyes flickering from each head stone that surrounded her. When she looked back at her hand the 火, 消防 fly was gone, though all the 火, 消防 flies lights were gone. The moons light climbed through the trees, throwing a radiant silver across the over grown grave yard. Heavy fog faded into the cemetery, surrounding her with horror, though she never showed it. 鹅 bumps rose on her arms, as she noticed it. It was the biggest 乌鸦 Madison had ever seen before, chubby and sleek, with rainbows glistening in its black feathers. She saw every detail of the 乌鸦 clearly, the selfish dark claws, the piercing beak, the single glowing black eye, but his eyes were on her, it something she couldn’t escape from. As the fog got thicker, surrounding the night sky, she took a deep breath, fear settling deeper into her lungs.
She heard something, but the voice sent a chill throughout her whole nerve system and sent a blinding white light that covered her eyes. Though this was a good white light, the kind 你 would combine with 天使 not the kind that seemed as though 你 were trapped in a snow storm.
Madison didn’t know the voice, that beautiful voice. It was the most supreme sound in the world, despite the fact he 说 one word in that beautiful husky voice.
“Lost?”
The tall young man, walked out from behind a tree, leaves lying on the ground, lifeless. He had baby blue eyes that lit up from the moons glowing light. He had dark brown hair that almost looked black, but it was short, a few strands of hair fell down to his brow. His eye brows were thick and knotted together, as he looked at her.
“No” Madison replied, frowning.
“Then why are 你 in the cemetery at night” He asked, with a smirk on his face, walking closer. She stood up quickly, knowing there was something strange about him.
“I could ask 你 the same thing” She replied, nervously. He chuckled to himself, as he sat down near her, his knees bent as his hands rested on them. She flopped to the ground, her legs crossed over one another.
The door of the Grill opened and Matt saw Tyler sitting at the bar, 接吻 Veronica. Matt rolled his eyes and turned around to leave again, when Tyler blocked his way.
“Are 你 leaving already?” he asked surprised. “Don’t be so stupid, have a drink with us”
Matt glanced at the bar. “You mean with 你 and Veronica? Yeah, I think I’m going to pass” He wanted to leave, but Tyler gripped his arm. “Aahh!” Matt exclaimed and looked shocked at Tyler, but he didn’t let go.
“We have to talk. It’s about Caroline” he started. “I need 你 to tell her that I 爱情 her. This...

Jeremy entered the Grill. He still had some time before school and this just couldn’t wait. He looked at the bar and to his relief Veronica was on duty. He walked to the bar and sank down on a stool.
“What can I get you, kid?” Veronica asked with a demeaning look.
“Do 你 have a 啤酒 mat? And a pen?” Jeremy asked secretive. Veronica gave him a 啤酒 mat and a pen and Jeremy scribbled something down. He shove the mat to Veronica.
“I want in” it said.
“You can’t just sign up, 你 know” Veronica said. “I need to know I can trust you. Isn’t your sister involved with vampires,...

Caroline parked her car on the parking lot of the school. Since Damon didn’t have a car anymore he couldn’t drive them and either way, Damon nor Elena minded being banned to the backseat of Caroline’s car.
“We’re there” Caroline said, excited and nervous.
“Yeah, 你 go ahead” Damon mumbled, before he kissed Elena.
“Come on, guys, not in my car” Caroline reproached. She stepped out of the car and walked around to Elena’s door. She opened it and pulled Elena out of the car. “Try to restrain yourself a little” she 说 with a sharp look at Elena.
Elena turned to Damon....

Elena gazed upon Damon’s face. She gave him a soft 吻乐队(Kiss) on his lips and stood up then. She walked to the doorway and leaned against the open door.
Damon opened his eyes and sat up when he saw Elena lurking at him. “What are 你 looking at?” he smirked.
“I’m looking at my boyfriend” Elena smiled mischievous. “The one I had great makeup sex with last night. Though I did most of it”
Damon raised his eyebrows. “Are 你 kidding?” Elena shook her head. “No. I mean 你 were just lying there” She opened her satin dressing 袍, 礼服 and revealed a blue bra and matching panties. “Want...

Katherine entered the Boarding House. She wasn’t the kind of vampire that got bossed around and so she would tell Damon she wasn’t going to take his crap. After all, it wasn’t her fault Rebekah had forced her blood on Elena and neither could she help it Rebekah had compelled Stefan not to stop her. She had warned them to drink vervain, but no, don’t listen to Katherine, listen to Bitchekah, who 你 barely even know.
She walked into the living room and was shocked 由 what she saw. Damon was sitting in a 三角形, 三角 of 火, 消防 and Bonnie was holding his hands. Breathing heavy she walked to...

Elena opened the door of the Boarding House. As she passed the living room she saw Damon sitting in the couch, his back to her. She wanted to sneak away, but…
“Elena! Get your 屁股 in here now!” Damon said. He sounded furious and so Elena rushed to him. She looked at him and startled. She had never seen him this angry.
“What’s wrong? Did I do something?” she asked careful. Damon looked at Stefan, who came out of the study room.
“I’m sorry, Elena. I thought he knew” he 说 sad.
“Knew what? What is going on?” Elena exclaimed.
“Will 你 stop playing dumb?” Damon 说 angry...

“Where’s Barbie?” Katherine asked when Stefan was standing on the front porch of the Boarding House. She had gotten used to the sight of him with Rebekah.
“She’s out, doing something” Stefan explained vague. “Can I come in?”
Katherine shrugged and let him pass. Stefan turned around. “I’m looking for Elena. Is she here?”
“No, she’s at school. 你 should know that” Katherine 说 uninterested.
“Not anymore she isn’t” Stefan said. “School’s over”
“Then she’s probably at the Grill” Katherine said, a little annoyed. “What do 你 need her for anyway?”
“I want to apologize for what happened last time she came over” Stefan said. “And I want to make sure she’s okay. I mean, I know Rebekah’s blood already left her system 由 now, but still, it must have freaked her out”
He looked at Katherine who stared at some point behind Stefan. Stefan quickly turned around and saw Damon standing in the doorway.
School was over and Elena was walking outside 由 herself. Caroline and Matt were talking, while Tyler was watching them from afar. As soon as Elena was out of school area someone grabbed her arm and pulled her along.
“Hey!” she exclaimed when she saw Derek. “What are 你 doing?”
“I need to 显示 你 something” Derek 说 excited. Without awaiting Elena’s approval he dragged her along until they were standing in front of an old building.
“What is this?” Elena asked. “Did Damon put 你 up to this?”
Derek shook his head. “He doesn’t know” He opened the door carefully...

Rachel was cleaning her house. It was the only way for her not to think about what she had done. She was vacuuming when someone rang the doorbell. She unplugged the vacuum-cleaner and walked to the front door. When she opened she came face to face with the person she least expected.
“Hi, Rachel.” Veronica said. “I’m back”
“I wasn’t expecting you” Rachel 说 sheepish. Ronnie conjured a huge smile. “Can I come in?”
Rachel couldn’t come up with an excuse to send her away and thus she stepped away, letting her pass.
Veronica walked to the 厨房 and noticed the vacuum-cleaner....

Jeremy turned his computer off when his phone rang.
“Hi, Elena. Did 你 get the results? It’s not something bad, is it?”
“Jeremy, I need your help” Elena 说 quickly. “I’m not in the hospital anymore”
“What? Why not? Where are you?” Jeremy asked confused.
“I don’t have time to answer that” Elena 说 nervous. “You have to do something for me”
“Okay, what?” Jeremy asked.
“I need 你 to go to the cops and ask them what they’ve done with Damon” Elena said.
“What? Elena, I don’t get it” Jeremy said.
“He’s had an accident” Elena explained quickly....

Stefan looked around him. Rebekah had brought him to a party for which they weren’t invited. But she had used her charms to have the owner of the house to invite them in. “What are we doing here?”
“Doing groceries” Rebekah replied. She let her eyes glide over the guests as if she was comparing products.
“I have blood bags” Stefan said. Rebekah gave him a disgusted look. “I’m not eating deep fried food. I prefer it to be fresh. Sure 你 agree”
“Blood is blood” Stefan said.
“There” Rebekah pointed at the corner left from Stefan. “He looks yummy”
“Rebekah” Stefan...

Caroline was making homework, yes homework, when someone rang the doorbell. Her mother wasn’t home, so she’d have to get up.
As soon as she opened, she wanted to close the door again, but Ronnie stuck out her foot.
“Five minutes” she said. Caroline sighed and opened the door. “What?” she asked.
“I, eh,…I want to apologize” Ronnie started. “The way I harassed you. I was going too far. I know you’re close with Tyler and I jumped into conclusions. I assumed 你 knew where he was”
“And I told 你 I didn’t” Caroline replied cold.
“Yeah, I know” Ronnie said. “That’s...

Tyler opened his eyes and gasped for air. The night was slowly giving in to the 日 and Tyler was still tied onto that chair.
“Good morning, sunshine” Klaus said, who was sitting in front of him in Indian style. He had a small flask in his left hand. “I hope you’re hungry”
“Can’t 你 just let me go already?” Tyler said, who was having trouble breathing. Blood came streaming from his eyes. What was wrong?
“I can’t let 你 go” Klaus said. “Not before 你 had breakfast” He continued, waving the flask. He scribbled up and opened the flask.
Tyler pressed his lips together, but Klaus easily separated them and poured the blood that was in the flask into his mouth.
“Now 你 won’t be so eager to run off, now will you?” Klaus 说 as he untied Tyler.
Elena, Caroline and some other people were standing 由 their lockers, getting ready to go home.
“How come Bonnie didn’t show?” Elena asked, 表演 careless. Caroline focused on her 图书 she was putting in her locker and avoided Elena’s stare. “I think she’s not ready for it yet” she 说 uneasy.
“She’s not ready for it yet? Okay, that’s…completely understandable, 给 the things she’s been through” Elena replied sarcastic.
Caroline averted her head and looked at her best friend with a sad expression. “She’s not ready to face 你 guys. She’s not ready to see...

“You sure no one’s going to bust us here?” Derek asked a little concerned. They were standing in the gym.
“Positive” Damon said, with his eyes on a paper. “According to this paper there are no gym classes for the 下一个 couple of hours, so I think we’re good”
Derek nodded. “Okay” he said, still not sounding very reassured.
“Look, I don’t want to do this, so shut up and stop whining” Damon 说 short. Derek looked at him a little upset. “Sorry. I’m a little peevish. I wasn’t expecting to see 你 ever again and it definitely wasn’t on my 圣诞节 list”
“Yeah,...

Tyler stared at Ronnie over his glass. She had been telling all about herself. It was quite a lot. Her parents both lived in Charlottesville. She had a brother named Jack, but he was out of the picture. She was interested in 邪恶力量 stuff and had heard Mystic Falls was full of it. And now she stared at Tyler with an expecting look.
“I want to know 更多 about this town ”
Tyler frowned. “There’s really nothing to tell” he 说 avoiding.
“Yeah, right” Ronnie 说 in disbelief. She searched her handbag and took out a newspaper and held it in front of Tyler.
“Police finds bodies...

Caroline and Tyler were sitting at the table. Caroline was taxing. “I’ve been trying to call Bonnie all day. Do 你 have any idea where she could be?” Tyler didn’t answer and so Caroline looked up, seeing him staring at the red-haired girl that was walking out the bar. Caroline pushed Tyler’s arm and he looked back front. “What?” he asked pulling his shoulders.
“I asked if 你 knew where Bonnie is” she 说 a little grumpy, though Tyler not responding right away was not the reason for her sudden change of mood.
“No” Tyler said. “I thought 你 说 she was on a vacation...

I don’t even need to tell 你 how many times he saved Elena.
He was willing to be killed 由 Klaus just so Elena could talk to Stefan
He’s always the one who saves the 日 yet he lets someone else get all the credit.
He was willing to take away Elena’s memories while he was gone even if it meant she’d still be mad at him.
He was the one who offered to take away Jeremy’s memories about Vicki.
He returns Elena’s 项链 every time she loses it.

Followed Elena into a mountain and helped her look for Stefan even though it was extremely dangerous.

Some opinions Stelena’s shippers think about Damon and Elena relationship that doesn’t make any sense!!

Elena will always 爱情 Stefan, no matter what she feels for Damon
It is not because she will never unfell for him that she doesn’t 爱情 Damon, her 爱情 for Damon “consumes her”. Stefan is the 安全 choice, which is why she would rather choose him and not Damon who “sabotage things”. Damon and Elena only have four kisses, and she kisses him in 3x19, I mean 你 can hate the ship but don’t deny it, If Elena doesn’t 爱情 Damon as much as she loves Stefan 或者 even 更多 than I really...

Elena was lying in Damon’s arms, when the door opened and Stefan and Katherine appeared in the doorway.
“Damon? Can I talk to you” Katherine asked careful. Damon nodded, but prevented Elena from leaving. “In private?”
“It’s okay, Damon” Elena sighed and she freed herself from his hold. “I’ll be back” she 说 with a faint smile. She walked away from the 床, 床上 and followed Stefan outside.
“Elena, I’m sorry” Stefan said.
“Not now, Stefan” Elena said.
“Yes, now” Stefan said. “I know 你 hate me and 你 have every right to. 你 should hate...
