So many reasons I don't understand/like this couple and I've written a lot about this in other places, but never here, so...yeah :)
In 1864, Stefan didn't really know who Katherine was. He didn't know she was a killer, that she manipulated he and his brother, whether it was in the purpose of taking away a person's judgment 或者 just having her cake and eating it too. If he didn't know about Katherine's flaws, how could he be in 爱情 with her? How could he know she was an angel, 或者 anything, for that matter, when he was shielded from it all?
I know people have 说 that the reason Katherine was in 爱情 with Stefan was that she was an “angel” as a human and he saw that in her, but I have to point out exactly who she is behind closed doors. No one is perfect – and I've met some pretty angelic people – and I don't hold Katherine to the standards that many hold Elena to. That said, Katherine is not an 天使 由 any sense of the word. She has flaws (and I think they're damn brilliant, honestly) and those flaws are apart of who she is now. Why in the world would 你 want a relationship with someone that will never 爱情 你 for who 你 are?
The statement that Katherine has come back for Stefan has barely been acknowledged at all. Katherine says she loves him, but when she has the house alone with Stefan and Damon, 你 can see from 2x16 that Stefan is the last thing on her mind – even though he is in the house and unoccupied. She claims she's come back for him, but her “seduction” of him? She breaks SE up once and, after that, the 显示 never demonstrates Katherine trying again, 或者 even trying to persuade Stefan to doubt Elena/seduce him. The two episodes that have Stefan/Katherine motivations are Memory Lane and 由 The Light of the Moon and, as far as seduction goes, are basically limited to dreams.
Not to mention, after so many years of knowing Stefan was alive and never contacting him 或者 letting him know, Katherine came back, first and foremost, for Klaus' little sacrifice. Just saying.
And, finally, if Ripper!Stefan is going to be a huge part of the 下一个 season (fingers crossed) then I really don't get how these two make sense; it's like Katherine's 评论 about how Stefan plays rougher (and she seems to like this fact) but her being "touched" 由 his gentleness and sweetness. Either she loves Stefan for who he is - not the fact that he's turned off his emotions/humanity, for example – 或者 for the ripper she wants him to be. She can't expect both, especially if she puts 更多 effort into seducing Stefan at his worst than she did when he was at his best.

In the season 4 episode 7 Caroline 说 to Stefan"You and Elena are epic; Elena and Damon are blah"
That is so discouraging for me... All this time I have waited for Elena and Damon to be together, but in the episodes last part my dream turned to dust, sire bond, everybody being against them together, obviously the scenarists don't think that they should be together in the end. but still I hope for Elena to tell Damon she loves him after the sire bond being broken. Stefan is a bit pathetic from my point of view, he is either too serious 或者 being a ripper, 或者 being so insentitive to Elena and turning Jeremy into a real vampire hunter, whose instinct is to kill everyone from their kind, therefore making it imposible for Elena to be a sister, the only family, for him.

Katherine ran to Fell’s church and climbed down. Rebekah had grabbed the phone out her hands and told her how stupid she was.
“They’re using 你 to find that witch, 你 idiot!” she had snapped.
Katherine hurried to the tomb and opened it. “Get out” she 说 to the weak Bonnie, who was lying close to the door. Katherine grabbed her hand and Bonnie shrieked. It was the hand with the hurt finger. “Come on, get out. I need to 移动 you” Katherine 说 agitated. She dragged her out of the tomb, ignoring her cries.
But as soon as Bonnie was out of the tomb Katherine felt two hands on her shoulders that pushed her forward. She fell and turned around to see Caroline helping Bonnie stand up. “What the hell are 你 doing?” she asked. Caroline looked up. “I can ask 你 the same question” she fired back. She bit her wrist and forced Bonnie to drink, so her wounds would heal. “Come on, I’ll bring 你 home”
“Where is that?” Bonnie asked depressed.
