1.) The film production had real life lions in the studio, cubs and adults, for 动画片 help. They studied them.
2.) The movie script describes cub Simba as "now a full-grown cub" which indicates 6-7 months of age. As his size and tail tuft are the same as real lion cub's around that age, and he also askes Timon for meat to eat which means he no longer drank his mother's 牛奶 which also happens around the 6th month. So, cub Simba was definitely supposed to be 6-7 months old.
3.) The Laseedisc release states "the adolescent Simba is only briefly seen in the film's Hakuna Matata song sequence, to 显示 the pressing of the years". So he definitely was there for 更多 than couple of years.
4.) A lion's mane is that developed not before age 5, so Simba had to be at least that old. This would result in 4½ years in exile.
5.) But on the commentary track the creator's pointed out they intented to have subtitles "Kenya, 2 years later" into the first scene after the first adult Simba scene. Which would add 2 更多 years, resulting in 6 and ½ years.
RESULT: Simba lived in the jungle at least 4½ years, and at most 6½ years.

Simba was 10 when he left Priderock he wandered into a jungle where met Timon and Pumbaa. He stayed with them for years. He had a full mane after many years so he stayed with them for about 14 years.
