MoA FIRST CHAPTER DISCUSSIONS AND THEORIES

Hello, so here we discuss the first chapter of MoA. I have a few theories on it. I will post them. Please respond with your theories too.And sorry if anysuch 文章 has already been posted, I haven’t found one. Tell me if it is a repeat article.
So as most of 你 know, the official first chapter for Mark of Athena has been read 由 Rick Riordan. This has confirmed that Annabeth will have a PoV. And many are convinced that she is the seventh demi-god. But there are many puzzling things about the chapter. Here we go:

•     Until she met the exploding statue, Annabeth thought she was prepared for anything

Lol, Terminus? Probably. Maybe they crash down 或者 something. 或者 wait, maybe Annabeth has a small argument and Terminus explodes(literally) due to anger. Either ways it will be funny and interesting to see how the Romans react.

•    She paced the deck of the Argo II, checking and double checking the ballistics to make sure they were locked in on.

So, we know for sure that Annabeth is on the Argo II but the 问题 is how she got there. Wasn’t she on a separate quest to find Percy? Remember in SoN Annabeth is seen telling Percy to stay put and that Tyson will arrive soon as he is the nearest. If Tyson was the nearest to Percy and Annabeth was that far away, where was she? And how did she manage to come in the ArgoII? When she was seen in Percy’s dream, had she been searching for Percy 或者 was it some other important little quest of hers?

•     Most importantly, she pulled aside their war crazed chaperone, Gleeson Hedge, and encouraged him to take the morning off in his 舱, 小木屋 watching reruns of a mixed martial arts championship. The last thing they needed, flying a Greek trireme into a potentially hostile Roman camp, was a middle-aged satyr in gym clothes waving a club and yelling “DIE!”.

Ok, we know that Gleeson was supposed to be watching over Trishtan Mclean(Piper’s dad) with his girlfriend Mellie(rolls eyes). So how come he ended up coming? That too when Annabeth is forced to keep him occupied and worry over him messing things up? Why not choose the better option and leave him back at Trishtan’s office 或者 Camp Half-Blood? Why take the risk? My guess is that Jason would have told him about their plan to visit Camp Jupiter and Gleeson would have insisted on accompanying to protect them. Though why they would take him serious I don’t know.

•    Everything seemed to be in order. Even that mysterious chill that she’d been feeling since the ship launched seemed to have dissipated. At least for now.

Mysterious chill? Are 你 guys thinking what I am thinking right now. We’ll come to this part once again later.

•     The Argo II definitely did not look friendly. Two hundred feet long with a bronze hull, flaming metal dragon for a mast head, mounted repeating crossbows that could 火, 消防 explosive bolts powerful enough to blast through concrete. Well, it wasn’t the most appropriate ride for a meet and greet with the neighbors.
Is that Annabeth being funny? –just random.

•     Leo had wanted to paint a giant message on the bottom of the hull, “Wazzup?” and a smiley face, but Annabeth had vetoed the idea. She wasn’t sure the Romans had a sense of humor.

Maybe this line doesn’t seem very significant but if 你 read closely again 你 can see that Annabeth has decided certain things about the Romans even wihtout meeting them. It is like she already knows what they think how they are. If anyone doesn’t cooperate with the Romans in near future I am guessing it would be Annabeth. Surely she will be shocked at how well settled Percy is with the Romans. Maybe she will think Percy has changed 或者 something and cause troubles. And ultimately this might result in her leaving the group and going off (Wisdom’s daughter walks alone)

•    On the stern quarterdeck, Leo brushed around like a madman, checking his gauges and levers. Most helmsmen would have been satisfied with a pilot’s wheel 或者 a rudder. Leo had installed a keyboard monitor aviation controls from a leer jet and dubstep soundboard and the motion control sensors from a 任天堂 Wii. He could 火, 消防 the ship 由 pulling on the throttle 或者 火, 消防 the weapons 由 sampling an album 或者 raise the sails 由 shaking his Wii controllers really fast. Even 由 demigod standards, Leo was seriously ADHD.

This is just 随意 but Leo is back and he is as cool as ever! :D

•     Piper paced back and forth behind the main mast, practicing her lines. “Lower your weapons,” she murmured, “we just want to talk.”

Talking about charmspeak, Rick is already in a tight spot with Piper’s charmspeak. For those of 你 who don’t know Piper wasn’t supposed to charmspeak gods but Rick accidentally made her do it. He realiseed it after releasing the book and when asked in an interview about what he was going to do. He admitted that he had made a mistake and was wondering how he was going to sought it out in MoA.
I am sure that the Romans wouldn’t take it kindly to be controlled. If they discover Piper’s ability then they won’t believe Jason to. They will think Piper has brainwashed Jason 或者 something. It definitely won’t make them believe the Greeks. Talk about too many problems because of one thing.

•    Today she was dressed in tattered jeans, worn out sneakers, and a white tank 最佳, 返回页首 with 粉, 粉色 Hello Kitty designs. Maybe a joke? Though Annabeth really could never tell with Piper.

What is funny about that dress? Did Annabeth expect her to wear 涂层, 外套 suit 或者 soemthing? Am I the only one who finds that Annabeth is very judgemental of everyone? 或者 is it because of someother effect which I will discuss later in this article?
And aren’t Annabeth and Piper friends? I thought I could see a good friendship between them in TLH? And now Annabeth is talking as if she is weary of her 或者 something.

•    [And then there was Piper’s boyfriend, Jason.

So now it is official. Wonder what Reyna would make of Jason and Piper. If I am right about her, she won’t go picking up fights since she and Jason never had any solid relationship. And oh yeah we have Reyna liking Percy too. So we have to get ready for some Annabeth vs Reyna too.

•     Over his jeans and his 橙子, 橙色 Camp Half Blood T-shirt, he had donned a toga and a purple cloak, symbols of his old rank as praetor.

Uh-uh, there is going to be some small disagreements between Jason and Percy, especially if Jason is that fond of his Praetor’s post. Wouldn’t he be shocked seeing Percy all comfortable and Praetor within few days at Camp when he, Jason had to wait for years to get such an honour? Also knowing Jason he would be imagining he is going to save Percy 或者 something. Imagine how he would feel if he knows it is actually Percy’s word keeping the Romans back from attacking ArgoII.

•     With his wind ruffled blond hair and his icy blue eyes, he looked ruggedly handsome and in control, just like son of Jupiter should.

This line has aroused a new ship – Jason and Annabeth. But guys please wait and read the 下一个 line. Annabeth doesn’t even trust Jason. I can never see that ship coming. Annabeth won’t leave Percy that easily.

•     Annabeth tried to fight it, but she didn’t completely trust this guy. He acted too perfect, always following the rules, always doing the honorable thing. He even looked too perfect. In the back of her mind, she kept thinking ‘maybe this was a trick and he betrayed us. What if we sail into Camp Jupiter and he says, “Hey, Romans! Check out these prisoners and this cool ship I brought you.

Not that I like Jason too much, but I think it is unfair for Annabeth to decide he would be a threat. Hadn’t he went on a quest and came back with Piper and Leo. For some reason Annabeth is really being very watchful of everyone. Too paranoid? Again, we will come to it later.

•     Percy, who might be below them right now.Oh god. Panic welled up inside her. “I’m a child of Athena,” she 说 to herself, “I have to stick to my plan and not get distracted.

Am I the only one who thinks that this line points that she is putting her relationship with Percy on hold for some reason? If yes, then why Annabeth?

•     Then she felt it again, that familiar shiver, as if an evil snowman had crept up right behind her and was breathing down her neck. She turned but no one was there. It must be her nerves.

Evil snowman? Anyways, is Annabeth the only one having those problems 或者 the others are facing It too?. If only Annabeth then she is into serious trouble. You’ll see why soon (I guess 你 guys are fed up 由 now about what that reason is going to be. Hey, but I warn you, it is not a big suspense 或者 anything. I bet 你 all worked it out already)

•     Annabeth wished she could pray to her mother for help, but now that was impossible. Not this last 月 since she’d had a horrible encounter with her mom and had gotten the worst present of her life.

What happened really? What was that thing which was so serious that Annabeth couldn’t even pray to her mother for help? What had happened during that horrible encounter? Where had it happened? And why was it horrible? Was this about the Percy-Annabeth relationship? It isn’t exactly a secret that Athena hates Poseidon. We already saw her disapprove of Annabeth’s choice of boyfriend. Did Athena forsee something which would result in danger for Annabeth because she is close with Percy? Was she trying to protect her daughter from it 由 asking her to stay away from him. If yes, then surely Annabeth would have argued with her and caused her anger. If all that is true and Annabeth is really in danger, will Rick kill her? I mean, we heard Juno tell Percy he would face pain, misery and loss beyond anything. For that to happen,either Annabeth, Tyson 或者 Grover will have to die. I know Frank and Hazel are a possibility too but the words ‘beyond anything’ proves that they are not the ones meant. But Juno also tells he might have a chance to save his old 老友记 (so maybe there is hope after all). And is the horrible present the mark which so many have speculated? The Mark which can give her the power to lead the seven to the doors of death(if she isn’t the seventh).

•    The cold pressed closer. She thought she heard a voice in the wind, laughing. Every muscle in her body tensed. She knew something was about to be terribly wrong. She almost ordered Leo to reverse course. And then, in the valley below, horns sounded.The Romans had spotted them.

So coming to the end of the chapter, we see that cold is surrounding Annabeth. We already have seen that she is too nervous, seriously nervous,too judgemental of others,too paranoid,untrusting and doubtful of others – we know that this isn’t the real Annabeth, the one we have known for 5 years . True we haven’t seen her PoV’s but I am sure she can’t be like how this first chapter shows her to be. (But if I am wrong and this is really her, then I won’t be enjoying her PoV’s, I enjoy Percy’s much much much better)
So that being said, I think Annabeth’s thoughts are being manipulated and slightly controlled but (guess who)………………………KHIONE. We already know that she influenced Zeus’s decisions. What If she is doing the same to Annabeth too? I guess Annabeth is not too dumb enough to fall for it but who knows? If Khione can hoodwink Zeus, Annabeth doesn’t stand much of a chance. Maybe Khione will keep manipulating her thoughts so much that Annabeth will start disliking the Romans. Maybe she will try to talk Percy out of the quest. Percy will disagree. Myabe she walks out of the quest, which brings us to the idea that she might not be the seventh demi-god. True that hse has a PoV but think guys, we know she is going to walk alone and that can’t happen if she is the seventh. If 你 are asking me why has a PoV then, wouldn’t we need to know what is happening to her after she separates? She is important but not as the seventh demi-god. Maybe she will be their guide to the Doors. Who knows?

And to get the 答案 to all these 问题 we need to wait for the MoA to come out. Why not soon! Why October!!!!!
