The Internet was first invented in 1943, and 由 the late fifties, it was in common use, as people discovered 更多 and 更多 uses for it. One of its many uses that made it so 流行的 was for bands to share and promote their music.
The Beatles, of course, were one of the biggest Internet presences around. On every site they joined, they had 更多 likes, comments, and followers than they knew what to do with. Their inboxes were flooded with fanmail. Their 视频 were viewed and their tracks downloaded millions of times per day. The Beatles loved their 粉丝 and would respond to as much of the 粉丝 mail and as many of the 评论 as they could (well, except the negative ones, but actually, John did enjoy responding to those. And even typed out, his witty retorts never failed.) They would sometimes use their popularity to give other bands a leg up in the 音乐 business. One time they collaborated with the Rolling Stones in a YouTube video, causing the Stones’ subscriber count to double. That was the kind of people the Beatles were, and their 粉丝 loved them for it.
Even after the Beatles stopped touring and seeing their 粉丝 live, their popularity continued. After all, they were still able to put on live video concerts for their loyal, adoring fans, and they still responded to as much 粉丝 mail and as many of the 评论 as they could. So it was almost as if the Beatles had never really left at all.
“Do 你 like our new sound?” the Beatles would ask their 粉丝 in online polls, 或者 “Would 你 listen to a seven-minute single if we released one?” (Of course the answer was yes, as they knew it would be.) So it was that 由 1969, the Beatles had as strong a 粉丝 following as they did back in 1963 when their first 音乐 video went viral.
That proved to be very important. Because as it happened, the Beatles’ extreme popularity attracted as much bad attention as it did good.

The small army of Beatles 粉丝 formed a strong double line in front of Paul’s front door, blocking the entrance and shielding the Beatles within. Hazel, of course, was front and centre, with Jeremy on one side of her and Candice on the other. Hazel’s 心 pounded in her chest. Now the moment had come, she was filled with a sudden fear, but she was determined not to let it show.
“Go away!” she said, her voice strong and commanding, and hardly shaking at all. “We won’t let 你 get John. You’ll have to get past all of us first, and then...” But here she stopped, knowing that if...
