Are there any similarities between Quidditch and Football?

I was watching The Big Bang Theory a couple days ago, and two of the characters were going to go a Football Party, and Raj (I think it was him) 说 "It's gonna be like watching Quidditch!" (Or something like that xD) And so I was wondering, are there any similarities between Football and Quidditch? I mean, besides they're both sports.
I know this 问题 is sorta pointless, but it's bothering me. ._.
