It's Complicated Chapter Fifty Five
Lila's POV
I had to admit I was scared to death. I had never been outside of Forks 或者 La Push. Now, I was going to a Deaf boarding school. This was all to weird for me. How was I going to communicate with people (if I wanted to). I really do not know enough sign language to sit through a whole entire class.
"Ready," Jasper asked signing.
I shrugged my I shoulders. I knew the sign he used but I was not ready to go. Jasper had sat down with me and we talked through pen and paper. He answered all my question. I could tell he was very excited about this; also, he told me this is what he has been wanting for a while now. But he would not change any of it because then he would have not gotten to meet me. I was thinking that he should have gone because it would have been best for him. Of course, I did not tell him that.
I grabbed my luggage and stuck it in the 树干 of Carlisle and Esme trunk.
I watched as Jasper pointed at his motorcycle.
"What," I asked signing.
"Ride, school, me," he signed.
"My motorcycle," I asked.
Jasper pulled a pen and notebook from his pocket.
"We cannot take your bike. It is not really rode safe," Jasper wrote.
"But I use to ride it around here," I wrote.
"But 你 have not ridden your bike since 你 have become Deaf," Jasper wrote.
"Fine; but are 你 still going to take yours," I asked.
"Yes, we have to have transportation on the weekends," he wrote down.
"Okay," I signed.
I put on my leather 夹克 and 头盔 and so did Jasper.
"How long it the drive," I asked.
"Hour to an 小时 and a half," he wrote down.
"Okay," I signed.
I watched as Jasper got onto his bike and then I followed. I jumped as I felt the motorcycle come to life. I could barely hear it as it idled.
We had to ride through La Push to get to where we were going. We passed the Blacks' house. I could see Billy on the porch with Charlie. Then Jake walked out onto the porch. I turned my head as far as I could so I could see them.
I had to admit I sort of missed them. Even after everything we went through, I could not but remember the days before I turned sixteen. Those were the days. I could hear and Jake was my best friend. We did everything together; it was defiantly a great time in my life.
If 你 would have told me six months 以前 I would become Deaf and 移动 in with the Cullens', I would have called 你 crazy.
We finally made it to this school. Yay?! I had no idea what to think of this school. It looked like a normal size school but with 更多 buildings. I guess for kids who could not go to and from school. I wish we could to and from school. I am going to miss my 床, 床上 at the Cullens'.
I got off Jasper's bike and took off my helmet. He did the sake as Carlisle and Esme got out of their car.
As we walked up to the doors there were kids everywhere. Worse of all, they were all signing to each other. This was almost worse then hearing school mat least I catch what the kids were talking about. But here, these kids were signing ninety miles per hour!
"You okay," Jasper asked signing.
"No, I want go home," I tried to sign.
Jasper gave me a crooked grin and wrapped me in a one armed hug.
Jasper was going to make a ton of 老友记 here. I just knew it. However, I was not. I did not care to have any other 老友记 beside Jasper. He was the only one I needed.
I followed Esme and Carlisle through the building. It seemed as if they had been here before. They could have done a tour with Jasper a while ago. Who knows?!?
A man came walking up to us and he signing and talking. I could have hipper ventilated right there.
I was isolated in my own word. I rarely talked to others. I could communicate if I knew what someone was saying to be but sometimes they did not understand me. Which caused me to become frustrated. Then people would try and sign and go so fast I could not read at all. So I just kept to myself.
I felt Jasper hit me lightly on the arm. I looked over at him quickly with a glare. He had scared me. I knew he did not mean to but I did not like that sudden tap when I was not paying attention.
"What," I asked.
Jasper pointed to the man. All the sudden, the man started talking and signing. I felt as if I was going to have a mental break down. I felt my eyes fill with tears and I just turned around and left the room. I walked my way through the halls and back to Jasper's bike.
I felt Jasper grab onto my shoulder as we neared his bike.
"I cannot do this," I 说 crying.
Jasper wrapped me in a hug as I cried. Was probably causing him a ton of embarrassment at his new school. Not to mention kids will probably give me some sort of nickname for crying. Probably "Cry Baby" 或者 something like that.
I let Jasper release me from the hug as be got out his pen and paper.
"You will be fine! In a few days 你 will be chatting with people in sign language like it is no big deal!" He wrote.
"No way! I am not cut out for this! I meant to be hearing." I wrote back.
"Lila! 你 are not hearing anymore so get over it! Just face the fact that 你 are not hearing!" He wrote back.
I shoved him away from me and went to Carlisle and Esme's car. I got in and locked the doors. I laid down in the back 座位 and just started sobbing.
Jasper was sick of me. Carlisle and Esme were sick me. That was probably the reason for sending us away to this school. But worse of all, Jasper was sick of me. My 心 sank; he was suppose to be my best friend and now he does not even like me.
Maybe I should have stayed with Billy and not told anyone about the beatings. It would have probably been my best bet. No one would find out that I 迷失 my hearing. I would just go my way with Jacob hating me and deal with my life. Now, I was ruining other people's lives. Must be my specialty.
Esme came to the car and unlocked it. I sat up in the back 座位 and she got in.
"Lila, we are not trying to get rid of you. We are trying to do what is best for you," she 说 loud enough were I could with my only hearing aide.
"I should have stayed with Billy and Jake and told no one and this would never be happening," I 说 still crying.
"You are right. This would not be happening. Because it would probably be much worse that it is right now," she said.
"Jasper is sick of me," I cried harder.
"No, he is just so upset because 你 were communicating in sign language so well before 你 迷失 your hearing. He feels as if he has 迷失 你 as a friend," she said.
"Same here," I mumbled. "When can I get my other hearing aide?"
"They have a place here that can fix it. They 说 it will be done in two to three days," she said.
I signed. I was going to have to wait that long to get it back. I needed it now!
Esme held my hand and I got out of the car. I went back inside with her and Jasper and Carlisle had gone somewhere. Great I really ticked him off.
