I think he held on for several reasons. 1)That's just the type of person he is. He has trouble letting go of things (two years after the fact, he's still accusing Harry of stealing ingredients). And I think the 更多 profound/hurtful/impactful things are just that much harder to let go of for him. And, personal feelings for Lily aside, she had a very profound, impact on his life.
2) Guilt. You'd be surprised at what guilt can make people do. And Severus had a lot to feel guilty about when it came to Lily.
3)I don't think he ever got the chance to come to terms and 移动 on from everything that happened. We know Dumbledore used Lily and his promise to Lily as a weapon, and we know Harry was a painful, constant reminder of everything that happened. I suppose 你 could argue there was eleven years where he could have moved on, but we don't really know what those eleven years were like. Perhaps Dumbledore was still using Severus to keep track of the free Death Eaters. Perhaps he was still manipulating him to stay on board as a teacher. I, personally, think he used Severus' past to keep Severus away from the Dark Arts, and I don't think he kept that a secret from Severus.

JK 说 that if Severus hadn't been so involved in the Dark Arts, Lily would have fallen for him. However, Severus' mistake had nothing to do with Dark Arts. I think that that is a 问题 that's really too complicated (and long!) to really say for sure. I think there's too many factors that would have to be taken out, switched around, and added in before it I could really say one way 或者 the other.

I don't particularly like Lily. I've never been shy about it, and I tend to be horribly biased when it comes to her. I've never been shy about that, either. So, personally, no, I don't think she deserved that kind of loyalty from him. All the canon evidence points to Lily being the type of person who extends a hand to those to need it most, and expect them to repay her 由 being the type of person she wants them to be. I don't think she cared for Severus the way she claimed she did, and definitely not to the extent she claimed.

I think Severus knew that Lily was the only one he'd ever 爱情 that there was no one else for him..as far as ending up together its possible if he didn't make the mistake but I think it would have been 更多 possible if he were in her house so they could stay close through the years...when 你 爱情 someone like he did Lily everything matters even if it means keeping her son 安全 from the dark lord

Severus wasn't really happy when he's at home.
Lily was like his escape from that unhappy house he lives in. For a kid (that was Sev) who is rarely 给 attention to, Lily's warmth is enough for him to hold on to. She was there when no else is.

I don't think they'd end up together. The mistake just justified how Lily wasn't that "there for him." But I am not saying Lily's bad 或者 anything. They both had their faults. If Severus didn't fancy Dark Arts and used it against his classmates for fun, Lily would have understood. If Lily had realized that Severus was highly embarrassed at THAT time,in front of his fellow "guys" then she'd have forgiven him. If Lily remembered that he's her best friend, and that their only 15 (just like the excuse everyone's been giving for James), then they would still be friends.


I think it's right that Snape was ever loyal to her.

What's not right is that he was never forgiven yet he held on.

I don't understand Lily, I don't understand her decision to marry James. Maybe I will never do.
But one thing is clear to me: she did not deserve Severus Snape 或者 his 爱情 for her. That is what I think.
I even can't tell 你 why I have this aversion against her. Maybe it's because she was too blue-eyed to see James' natural, how he has treated Severus in younger years etc. I hate when people do things like that. It was unfair and I can never forgive James for that, just like Lily has not forgiven Severus. But that won't answer your question.

Just something 更多 to add: In the movie they didn't 显示 how Snape has called her mudblood and how desperate he stood infront of the portrait of the fat lady to appologize... I was so glad about it!!! It would have made it 更多 difficult for me to understand things about his death. So they (mostly) have shown the good things and the good sides of Snape and that is what he deserves after all he has risked. His dead was for nothing.
