It...happens.
Either because of hormones, third world country, etc.
Sometimes, life just doesn't happen the way people want it to be. There are times when a girl can't avoid bad situations.
So in the case of a perfect consent (between two conscious teens with no threat of violence), she should try not to have sex. But I shouldn't be controlling a girl's decision, eh? Even if they're bad ones. I'm not going to judge much, since I did had sex during my teen years (with protection). Protection is never going to be as 安全 as not having sex.
Sex isn't that special. Not special enough to risk getting pregnant that young. Teenagers though, can be stupid as heck.

*Cough* Well, it's usually the fault of both in the relationship. Kids not thinking. Not mature enough. Sometimes it's because of drinking. I don't think this statement is really appropriate for the question, joke 或者 not. Kids need to be taught sex education and it needs to be 更多 widely available, as it is quite a problem. The world will not support such a growing population forever. Birth control is also important to be 更多 widely available.

Yeah, except that a lot of teenagers are simply not fully mature and don't understand. So they do it anyway and often don't think about the consequences too late. You're being a bit too idealistic here. The point is, teens will do it and not think about the consequences and then it is too late. Sex education ought be taught far 更多 widely than it currently is.

We are teenagers and teenagers get urges, but I feel most of them know it's too risky to do anything. Either way, if a teen gets pregnant, she should get the proper guidance & support of others around her.

I think it's complicated. On the one hand, they are very young and inexperienced. They are going to miss out on so much and it's going to permanently affect their lives, no matter if they keep it, have it adopted 或者 abort it. It's life changing. On the other hand, some teens do make excellent parents. I know people who are the result of a teenage pregnancy and their parents are amazing.
One the subject of teenage sex, I think teenagers need to be better educated, either 由 their parents 或者 their school. Refusing to discuss the topic and repeating the mantra 'Just don't do it' isn't going to do anything to prevent teenage sex 或者 pregnancy. In fact, I would say it increase the chance of teen pregnancy - if they don't know how to prevent it there is a much larger chance of it actually happening.
Teenagers are going to have sex. Not all teenagers have sex, but lots do and that number isn't going to decrease. They way to prevent pregnancy is to accept that they are going to do it and teach them properly on how to be cautious.

Yes, sex education needs to be 更多 widely available, as well as better taught, so that the teens will understand exactly what they will be getting themselves into, as well as everything they would need to do, but in a manner where they DO understand what they are being taught. The trouble is, schools don't cater to every student - they simply teach sex education and not all teens understand it, therefore becoming teens that may, 或者 may not, become pregnant, 或者 get someone pregnant. I also think protection needs to be utilised 更多 widely and 更多 available than it currently is. It is a problem and needs to be addressed, so that it can be solved and/or controlled.

^Exactly. There is so much teens aren't taught about sex and contraception. For example, I'm 17, I've attended all the classes, done my own research, but I couldn't tell 你 where 你 could get condoms 或者 other forms of birth control and I think that's something people need to know. Contraceptives need to be made widely available.

I don't think it's a particularly good thing. I think teenagers should be waiting, to have sex, until they are at least 16, but preferably even older, when they are a bit 更多 mature. The fact is, teenagers are just not prepared for children and it isn't a good idea to bring children into the world, if the parent (s) aren't prepared enough to take care of them.
Of course, when it is not planned and accidental, I think it simply one of those thi8ngs that cannot be helped and that's when abortions, 或者 adoption, is necessary, in order for the child to have the best life possible, with everything needed to be provided to them.

Concluding my point, I feel like teen pregnancy occurs far too often, particularly in my own country (New Zealand), and should be controlled, with better sex education. Plus, teenagers shouldn't be having sex until they are at least 16, but making sure they use the pill, 或者 condoms, to ensure that pregnancy doesn't occur until they are ready, and mature enough, to have children.

I think there needs to be a lot better sexual education everywhere. But sadly many places seem to think it's "teaching teenagers to have sex" when really it's just teaching teenagers how to be 安全 when the time comes. Like in Texas where there's practically hardly any sex ed at all, there's a huge amount of teen pregnancy because education is the key problem. Also 更多 birth control would do a lot of good. 你 can't just take away that expecting it will help lower the amount of sex they have, because teenagers will do it no matter what and you're only encouraging them to totally leave themselves unprotected, not only risking pregnancy but deadly STDs as well. I personally have no desire for sex, but if other people want to, as long as they are 安全 with consent, then I don't feel I have the right to judge them. But they should be aware and educated of all the consequences of being sexually active. And as for teen pregnancy, I'm on the fence of it. As a teenager you're making a lot of difficult decisions in your life already, and being placed with that huge amount of 更多 responsibility can really mess up your future. And there's many people in my generation which sincerely don't understand the responsibility and everything 你 need to put into raising a human being. But if a teenager truthfully believes they are prepared and want to have a child, then that's their choice and I'd like to see how it works out for them.

Well, whenever I see teens from my old school heading to 脸谱 and posting hundreds of baby-bump pictures, gotta be honest. I'm not happy 或者 thrilled for them.

I don't agree with having sex when you're under 20. I may be very old fashioned regarding that, but it's just something I believe in.

Of course, things happen, teens do get pregnant. I just get really ticked off because the majority of these teens are not mature enough and well enough off financially to be supporting a baby; so 你 see them mooching off the government with benefits 或者 cleaning out their parents wallets; very rarely, funding the child entirely themselves.

Sex education should be 更多 available to teens so they know exactly what they're in for, but at the end of the day, teen pregnancy can't always be linked back to lack of education. Many teens have the knowledge and certainly understand the consequences, but few teens have the maturity to think of protection and consequences in the heat of the moment.

Sum it up, guess I'll say that I'm not pleased when I hear about teen pregnancy, but if the teens are mature enough to handle the situation, and give that baby all the support and 爱情 it requires, then I can't complain and judge.

I agree with this greatly. I see it too, especially in Christchurch, where 你 see so many young looking mothers... the other day, I saw a girl that looked about 15-16 pushing a pram. It's not ideal, but it seems that it is a problem our government will have to tackle one way 或者 the other, when it comes to 婴儿 needing support and loving care. As 你 said, not all teens can handle such a responsibility, though, kudos to those that can.

I mean, damn. Come on~ Teen pregnancy is the effect of having sex (I hate this word, seriously). So why would 你 even have sex *shudders* if 你 KNOW that its going to lead to this?
Common sense people (please)... 你 know sex leads to teen pregnancy. The hell with protection! Protection is also bad for your *coughs* private parts *coughs*. How do I know? My parents told me. No, they didn't do "The Talk" with me. I personally asked them and yeah I was embarassed.

Anyway, the prevention only for this is (for me anyway), that 你 should have a relationship during your 18+ years. I'm pretty sure you're mature enough to make decisions like these.

If you're having sex (and don't want to get pregnant 或者 catch diseases) 你 should use protection. I don't think it's realistic 或者 fair to expect people (teens) not to have sex until they want to get have a child. For me it's perfectly okay for a, lets say 15 或者 16 年 old teen, to have sex as long as they are responsible, well-informed and use protection. It's also important to be with someone 你 trust. Plus, teenagers should only have sex (this goes especially to girls, who receive the hardest critisism) if they know they aren't going to feel ashamed 或者 guilty 由 it. If 你 have sex, feel great about it 或者 don't do it- if not what's the point anyway? Accidents do happen, though. Some teens are just not mature enough. It can be something horrible to them (or even to the baby if they decide to raise it without being mentally ready) but everyone makes mistakes and instead of judging them harshly we should try to offer them help and support:) But yeah, I agree with everyone teen pregnancy very often ends up in disaster so teens should try to be responsible and avoid it.
