Why???

日本动漫 are TV shows... and I like TV shows... not to mention the art is much better than most 动画片 I get on TV at my house because the artists actually put a lot of effort into it. I also find that the plots are much better than most "ordinary" 动画片 I come across.

To me, 日本动漫 is just another form of TV 显示 that I like to watch. Each 显示 is individual, so it really depends on the 日本动漫 on whether I think it's my type of 显示 或者 not. I usually don't like to clump every single one together and label them all as "anime" because each 日本动漫 显示 has a genre with a different plot. Some animes I like, some I don't like.
