Y do they call it 圣诞节 In July?

Don't they say that when they're in some sad period of their life?

People don't want to wait 12 whole months for Christmas. So they spread the cheer 6 months early! It so fun to pretend!!! Today is Christmas! I'm going to wear red and green and sing 圣诞节 songs and eat roast beef and put up the 树 and decorate!!!! Okay, a little too much...I just really looovvve Christmas!!! Merry 圣诞节 in July everyone!! And a happy Labor day!!! ^u^

It's because the seasons are reversed for the Southern hemisphere. Right now in Australia is July but we're in the middle of the chilling winter. So, 圣诞节 spirit is felt during this period because 圣诞节 for most of the world is during winter. In another words during the real 圣诞节 period in December we're in summer, so we don't really feel very Christmas-y. That's why it's called 圣诞节 in July.
