I looked at Percy nervously as he got down on one knee. Was this another joke, 或者 was it not? “Annabeth,” He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small black box. “Will 你 marry me?” He asked, pulling open the lid and revealing the most beautiful ring I’d ever seen. The diamond was about twice the size of my ring finger, and it sparkled in the moonlight.
I looked out at the water from the dock we were standing on. The light from the Ferris wheel behind us bounced off the light, and I wondered if Poseidon was watching this. If he was, would he risk his identity making sure his son didn’t make a mistake?
We’d been through so much together, and after the war with Kronos, which seemed so long ago, we’d been less worried about things that were going on. Not as many attacks happened, amazingly, and there hadn’t been too many threats to our lives. At least there was a little time that we could be normal.
I looked back at him. “Yes.” I whispered and watched him slowly place the ring on my finger before I jumped into his arms, laughing. Now everything in my life was perfect.


“You’re what?!” 坦莉雅 shouted through the phone. I nearly dropped it, and I’m sure that I would have an ear problem later.
“I’m engaged.” I slowly looked down at the ring as I spoke, wondering when she was going to scream the 下一个 question…
“I heard that. To who?” Now would have been a good time. I wondered what she would think. I know that she and Percy didn’t exactly get along all the time, but still, he was her cousin after all.
“Percy.” I bit my lip as I waited for something to come out of her mouth. However, to my dismay, the phone remained silent. “Thalia?” I asked, though nothing came from the other side of the phone.
“I’m so happy for you!” She screamed. After a second, I could hear that she was screaming her lungs out.
“Thanks. Will 你 be my maid of honor?” I asked her. Once again, a whole lot 更多 screaming and rude remarks. I was guessing she was with some of her friends, either that, 或者 at home.
“Yes! Yes! When’s the wedding?” She asked.     
“August 10th.” I responded. 更多 screams. For the 爱情 of Athena, did she ever run out of air?
“We’ll have to get together to discuss everything. I’ll talk to 你 later, okay?” I heard her laughing as she hung up. I took the phone away from my ear, hearing the ringing in my ears that began to stop, thankfully. I looked down at my ring, thinking, how could my life get any better?

The 日 was finally here. My stomach had 蝴蝶 as I crawled out of 床, 床上 to take a shower. I didn’t say a word to any of my other 舱, 小木屋 mates, but that’s only because I was sort of still asleep, even though the surprise should have woken me up enough.
Mrs. Jackson, Thalia, Juniper, Clarisse and I would meet up in the Big House; Chiron 说 it was okay for us to use that place as a “dressing room”. Chiron was instructed to stay out and help Percy until we were ready to actually say our vows. Percy and I had asked him because we knew that he would be the best for the job. Plus, he was an amazing and big part of our lives.
After showering, I headed toward the Big House in my camp tee and 黄褐色, 卡其色 shorts, but as soon as I stepped onto the Big House step, I was attacked 由 the girls who all looked down disapprovingly at my outfit. “No! No! NO!” 坦莉雅 screamed, yanking my hair from my ponytail and throwing me down in front of the mirror. I tried to protest, but the girls talked over me, so I couldn’t get a word in edgewise.
They began with my hair, throwing it in a lot of different styles until they decided on the natural look of leaving it in a half ponytail. I felt like my hair had been attacked with a vacuum cleaner 由 the time they were done.
They began on my make up after slipping my dress on over my head, but my eyes had to be closed the whole time. I could feel them working on my make up though, and 由 the time I was done, when I looked in the mirror, I thought I looked like a California 芭比娃娃 doll. The makeup wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, but I still didn’t want to wear it. I wanted to wipe it all off, but before I could do anything, they yanked me up. I watched the rest of them get ready and waited until they 说 that they were ready. I bit down on my 蝴蝶 and grabbed my dad’s arm.
The 音乐 slowly began to play, and my dad, who looked handsome in his tux, walked me down the aisle. Percy stood at the altar, looking way better than I could ever have in a million years. His black hair was tousled perfectly atop his head, and his eyes and smile were luminous.
Chiron stood 下一个 to him in centaur form, looking proud, giving us that warm smile that I’d grown to recognize whenever he smiled that way.
After the “I do’s” and the kiss, the wedding flowed smoothly into the reception. I was about to stuff a piece of cake into Percy’s mouth when the ceiling caved in. I screamed, and something wrapped around my waist. My veil flew off, and I saw Luke’s face in front of me as Percy was knocked to the floor, unconscious. When a chunk of ceiling fell on my head, I hoped all this was just a dream but I knew it wasn’t when Luke whispered, “You’re mine now, Annabeth.” My eyes tried to stay open, but the pain was forcing them closed. I’m going to kill Luke. This was my last thought before my eyes closed.
