I think I've been very vocal on how complex of a character I believe her to be. :)
I am fascinated with the different dimensions and depth of the character. Even in her most "Evil" action I think if you really look closely you can see a glimmer of uncertainty and hurt.
Liking a character and the degree of their complexity and are two different things.
I'd say she's one of the most complex characters I've ever come across. She's fighting a war in her waking life, and battling one with her emotions as well.
Her nuances are quite interesting and lead me to so many theories regarding her and her past.
I agree, I'm not trying to call anyone out or anything, but most people who like a character would be like 'oh so and so is the most complex character like wise people who hate a certain character are more like so and so is not complex at all because I don't like them. I try not to do that, but it happens sometimes lol.
@Princess-Yvonne Understandable, I hope I didn't come off as catty or anything XD I mean, we all see things differently, right?
Personally, I think Lana's the best female actress they have (Robert being the best male), so I have to loudly disagree on well-played lol
I just can't see her as simple...I mean, I look at her relationship with Henry (both of them), the way she killed Graham and her father but still seemed to hate herself as she did it, her surprise and almost scared acceptance when someone admits they care about/for her, her reluctance to let people genuinely in and refusing to form many emotional bonds, etc. and I just know there's a deep reason and a pain. There seem to be two VERY different sides working within her, sometimes intermingling. And it's simply amazing.
Now, a character like the Blue Fairy, that's what I consider simple. Regina, I see as multi-faceted. Interesting topic to explore though :)
the Blue Fairy couldn't possibly be a complex character since she's an episodic character! =)) she only appeared for a few minutes on screen..how could she be complex?!
But Regina could have been, as main character, a complex one!
I hope that the next episodes would bring an improvement and she'll became complex in my eyes too!
I RESPECT ALL OPINIONS. respect mine too. Don't force your vision on others :)
She said the blue fairy was a simple character, not a complex one.
I'm not trying to force anything on you if you disagree you disagree, (I don't want to sound rude of anything but) my life goes on. Like wise you could probably care less for my opinion.
I'm interested in everyone's opinion! That's why I read them! I just don't like when people tend to believe that only they are right and try to make others change their minds...
Don't take it personally, is just a show after all...
Precisely: Blue Fairy is a simple character and couldn't have been a complex one! I don't think she could be compared to Regina (main character) as she's an episodic character. Compare Regina's complexity to other main characters1
Oh goodness, I hope it didn't seem like I was forcing anything on you, because I certainly wasn't. I also know that I am not 'right', as it as all opinions, I was simply explaining why I have the view that I do. I just enjoy debate and we seemed to have a nice one going :)
It is just one of those things where it all comes down to taste in the end, and who knows who may have their feelings change during the course of the show? They've still got a lot of ground to cover after all.
I do find Regina to be very complex. I find myself constantly trying to figure out where she is coming from. I know she is not a GOOD character, but I do think she is a COMPLEX one.
P.S. Lana is so my new favorite actress! Her range, facials, and emotions are all perfect and precise.
Rumple and Regina are VERY 'complex!' Here's an article by Elstef:
"I am not trying to justify their actions, but it occurs to me that Regina and Rumple both turned to the dark side because they were tired of being victimized, and because they lost someone that they love.
Regina loved her father, but even she pointed out that he did nothing to protect her from her mother. Her mother killed the love of her life, and then forced her into a loveless marriage with a man who essentailly kept her trapped. It is easy to see why Regina would want to take matters into her own hands.
Rumple was considered a coward by pretty much everybody. His wife left him, and it is implied that she cheated on him. Then these guys come along and try to take away his son, who is the only person who seems to see any worth in him. These same guys then procede to humiliate him in front of his son in a scene that I may never be able to watch again (where they make him kiss the boot). Rumples fear made him let Bael go through the portal alone, and it is possible that Rumple's goodness, or a great deal of it, went with him.
Just as Rumple's dark side cost him Bael, and may cost him Belle, Regina's dark side cost her her father, and may cost her Henry, Yes, it is clear that what Rumple said is true. "All magic comes with a price", and this seems to be particularly true for dark magic.
So the question remains, will these two continue down the dark path until it costs them everything (maybe even their lives), or will one or both of them attempt to make amends for the harm they have done, and heal the holes in their own hearts? The only thing that seems to be certain is that neither one of them is one dimensional, and it is probably best to not assume you know what they will do next."

She's a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT as I really hoped to like her.

I don't LIKE Regina because she's NOT A COMPLEX CHARACTER.
Mr. Gold is a complex character.
I personally don't like simple, not well written, not well played characters. like Regina.
again: my opinion.
Personally, I think Lana's the best female actress they have (Robert being the best male), so I have to loudly disagree on well-played lol

And as bby11 mentioned she seems conflicted abit killing. She seems like she wants love but doesn't know how to let it in.
But Regina could have been, as main character, a complex one!

Oh I'm not taking it personally, I don't start taking it personally until the name calling starts. But so far that has not happened.
Yeah, I wonder what the blue fairy would be like as a main character lol.
It is just one of those things where it all comes down to taste in the end, and who knows who may have their feelings change during the course of the show? They've still got a lot of ground to cover after all.
I love dabates as well. :P

I agree with Elstef! :-)
