See, I love the chemistry between Mal & Inara and it never would have ocurred to me to think of Mal and River as a couple! But I was browsing around FanFiction the other day and there seemed to be an awful lot of stories to do with MalRiver. To me Mal is like another brother, or cool uncle to River. What does everyone here think?

Oo thats a bit odd isn't it? No I love the banter between Inara and Mal, and Nathan and Morena play them so well.

See, I love the idea of Mal and Inara, but if they were a couple, I think that the tension that they have through Firefly and Serenity would be lost. And admit it, you love to watch that whole frisson between them.

Mal has such a deep caning and understanding love for River. He's always watching out for her but also gives her space to become her own person. Not to mention she will kick his butt if he doesn't.

I never thought of RiverxMal. Mal is like River's other brother or her mentor, it would her be weird.
