I also like listening to Garbage :) Sad music cheers me up! DM is a great band, no matter what mood I am. When I want to be sad, I'm listening to them, when I want to be happy I listening to the same songs of them that made me sad another day :D

Their song "Run" is in my head connected to some powerful memories, so if I turn the volume up and close my eyes, I'm taken right back. It usually makes me cry, but I feel better afterwards.

Coldplay is great for sad moments too.
