Brit Awards nominations: Reggie Yates defends Sia's controversial music video - 'It was a beautiful piece of art'

The host of the ceremony tonight said the singer has achieved great things this year, as she gets a nod for Best International Female

Reggie Yates spoke out to defend Sia\'s controversial new music video tonight - which features a semi-naked Shia LaBeouf wrestling with a 12-year-old girl.

The footage sparked outrage online, but former Radio 1 presenter Reggie insisted it was "beautiful" when speaking to Mirror Celeb at the Brit Awards nominations ceremony tonight.

"I love what Sia\'s done this year," he told us. "And the two videos. I know a lot of people had a lot to say about the last one but I thought it was a beautiful piece of art."

The video, for new hit Elastic Heart, shows the actor wrestle and fight in a cage with Dance Moms star Maddie Ziegler.

Twitter exploded after the disturbing promo was released with artist Sia even appearing to predict paedophile critism as she apologised for any offence caused.

"I anticipated some \'pedophelia!!!\' Cries for this video," Australian star Sia wrote on Twitter.

"All I can say is Maddie and Shia are two of the only actors I felt could play these two warring \'Sia\' self states."

In the video, the dancer, who also appeared in Sia\'s Chandelier video, is seen smeared with dirt, wearing a fringed blonde wig and nude leotard as she bounds about and throws herself on the ground.

"I apologize to those who feel triggered by Elastic Heart, my intention was to create some emotional content, not to upset anybody," she added.

Reggie also told Mirror Celeb he\'s backing Jessie Ware this year, adding: "I\'ve been a fan of hers since the beginning. She\'s my girl. There\'s a great set of British artists. They are all so genuinely good."
