One reason why Michael never got along with his half-sister was because she was a constant reminder of the affair their father had with her mother, and considered the affair a form of blatant disrespect to his mother in the process. In one of his biographies I read pertaining to Michael, he tried repeatedly to get his mother to leave his father but she refused due to her strong beliefs as devout Jehovah's Witness. According to Joh'Vonnie, the last time she saw Michael was at a family gathering at Neverland ranch back in 2003. She tried to talk to Michael with the intention of wanting to get know him, but he spoke to her daughter instead, which left her stunned and hurt. The one thing she wanted was to form a relationship with her famous half-sibling and wanting to get to know him, but it wasn't meant to be. However, she established a loving relationship half-sisters Janet and Rebbie, but it wasn't the same.
As single mother, Joh'Vonnie has managed to raise her daughter all 由 herself despite the fact she claims that Michael wouldn't help her. 由 not being invited to attend his memorial and funeral services back in 2009 at the request of the Jackson was biggest blow to her mentally, physically and emotionally.
