^ Pretty much. I don't believe it's entirely a choice to hate gays, but even if it is, acting on that choice is still wrong. You're allowed to believe something, sure, but when acting on that belief starts harming other people, that's absolutely wrong.

But thats besides the fact... The parents will lose in court. Just look at any other court case. You can not have hate speech. It is not a free speech right. So yes i believe it is quite ridiculous for anyone to take it like this. If the kid was simply just being gay, the other kid had no right to tease him harshly. Everyone is titled to their own opinions, but you are not entitled to act upon them all of the time.

Schools are supossed to educate and protect students when they are on campus.That meanns they are obliged to stop all bullying they see that they can do something about regardless of personality, sexual orientation or race.

The bully has the right to hate gay people if he wants to. It's bigoted and small-minded, but as long as he keeps it to himself, it's harmless.

He does not, however, have the right to inflict pain on other people because of his own opinions. That is wrong, and that is why this case should be abandoned.

Everything about this is wrong. If a student says or does something homophobic, the teacher has to do something about it. It's a part of Equality & Diversity; you can't just ignore it because that homophobic student is creating an unsafe environment. I don't know what that parent was thinking, trying to sue the teacher for doing her job the way she has to. Also, you don't get the right to be a bully just because you happen to have a shallow personality.

It doesn't surprise me that a homophobic kid came from a parent that messed up though. In a way, it makes me feel sorry for the kid because it sounds like he's got no hope if that's who's raising him!

It was quite a while ago since you originally posted this poll. Did you hear what the outcome was? Surely they didn't go to court with it?

I'm actually confused as to why the teacher was even being sued. Was he or she supposed to let this bullying continue? No, if they had just let it continue then they would have been just as horrible as the bully. Sure, people have a right to hate, which is just dumb but whatever, but acting on it is not a right. The Bully's parents are morons for letting their kid get away with this. I am so sick of people being hurt because of their sexuality, it's not hurting anyone so why bother attacking someone who's gay or a lesbian or transgender? People just need to stop with the bullying others, and start fixing their own problems. From what I understand, people who bully others obviously have something in their life that isn't going so well. So, they bully to make themselves look cool and feel better but someone who bullies others doesn't make them look cool it makes them look like assholes and sure it may make them feel better but then they go home and realize that the bullying didn't change their pitiful life situation. That's just the way I see it. So, homophobes, bullies, they all deserve to rot in a jail cell and to be beaten to death.

Those parents are being stupid. They should give their son consiquences.
