These two will always hold so much potential for me, and clearly the writers & Jeff knew that because they exploited it to the fans during the first 2 seasons and queerbaited the hell out of us.

I completely agree with that. I mean they got Dylan O'Brien back for the finale just for some major Sterek queerbaiting.
