Is Brown-eyed Girls an 'idol' group 或者 not?

A lot of people say that they're too old to be an idol group, and some say they're too good to be one.
I agree with the latter but what are they really?

it's not just the age though, people think that BEG is different from other idol groups. They're 更多 like actual singers than idols.
