Rising 星, 星级 Hilarie 伯顿 laughs off the notion that her schedule is tough to handle as she shuttles every few days between New York City to host MTV's "Total Request Live" and Wilmington, N.C., to co-star on the WB's "One 树 Hill."
In fact, she even has time for a personal life.
"I do, I do! I have a wonderful man I'm in 爱情 with," she says, declining to give his name. An actor? "Oh, no, no. We only need one self-indulgent person in the relationship," she quips.
"He does work on the 显示 as an AD (assistant director). Anytime I'm working, which is quite a bit, he's there, and that's nice. So many people shun working with the person they're involved with in life, but I 爱情 it. I identify with Julia Roberts when she says she and her husband 爱情 working together. If 你 have make-out scenes, he's there and knows nothing shady is going on. He understands what my job is and why I have to do this 或者 that. We're in the same boat, kind of growing in our careers and our lives at the same time."
With "One 树 Hill" a bona fide sensation among the youth demographic, 伯顿 says she feels 更多 pressure about response to this season -- premiering tonight (9/21) -- than last. "We started as the underdog, but this year, there are such high expectations, it makes me really nervous," says the actress who's the center point of a 三角形, 三角 between the show's half-brother characters, played 由 Chad Michael Murray and James Lafferty. What helps is "The cast and crew have a great sense of camaraderie."
"It's like being back in high school," she says. "We shoot at schools. We have our little cliques. We go away and do other things, which are like summer camp." (In her case, she played the comedic role of a "Boone's Farm-drinking" 1970s Tennessee wild teen in the big-screen "Our Very Own.") "And then in the fall we hug and 吻乐队（Kiss） and squeal, 'I'm so glad to see 你 again!' "

Hilarie 伯顿 splits her life between two worlds - one in New York, as host of MTV's "Total Request Live," and the other in Wilmington, NC, where she flies each week to film her role as Peyton in the WB teen hit "One 树 Hill." She notes, "I always say 'The 草 is greener on the other side, and I've got both back yards.' Any time I need a little excitement, I go up to New York, and when I want to live a quiet life and read a book, I go back down to Wilmington."
But Wilmington is home, she makes clear.
Indeed, there are special pluses in the south. One is that her boyfriend is an assistant director on "One 树 Hill." The other is "the level of work in Wilmington is so heightened because we're not surrounded 由 the b.s., we're not saying 'Are 你 going to the premiere?' 'Who are 你 wearing on the red carpet?' 'Did 你 see that stylist?'
"You can feel taken for granted in the bigger cities, but here in Wilmington, it's never like that. People are so nice. We go to 电影院 and catch local improv theater. We all care about each other. I hope we go for the full six 年 run.
