Chapter Five
Hayley's POV
“I don't blame you.”
“What?” Josh asked looking up from the sheet of lyrics we just got done writing.
“I don't blame you.” I repeated in the same low murmur.
“Blame me for what?” He was definitely confused.
“For hating me.”
He dropped the lyrics and came over to sit beside me.
“Hayley I don't hate you. Why would 你 think that?”
I was afraid to look at him, so instead I looked down at my tightly clasped hands. “Well 你 barely ever talk to me. Ever since we got back from tour, and I started dating Chad, 5 weeks ago, I just feel like we never see each other. I just wanted 你 to know that I don't blame 你 for hating me. After what I did. I'm just a cold heartless bi –.”
“Don't beat yourself up over it Hayles. I'm not mad, we both knew it wasn't going to work. I guess I was just not thinking. It was what's best for the band. And besides I'm a man of my words, and I believe I made 你 a promise. I'll always be your friend, Hayley, no matter what 你 and I say 或者 do.”
I sighed with relief. “So really 你 aren't mad? 你 don't mind that I moved on so fast?”
He put his arm over my shoulder just like the old days, and I reflexively layed my head onto his shoulder.
“Nope I don't mind it. Chad's a pretty cool dude. Besides I met someone, too. Her name's Jenna.”
I stared at him in complete shock. Josh was seeing someone new? I couldn't believe it. That was the last I would expect to hear from him, but isn't that ok? I mean it's not like we're anything 更多 than close friends. But why did news of him seeing a new girl hurt me so much? I'm with Chad now, not Josh.
“Wow. That's...great!”
“Yeah, she's really amazing, smart, funny...”
“Aww it sounds like Joshiekinz is in love.” My 心 started ache realized what I just said.
“I think I am.”
“That's great. I'm glad we're both moving on.” Deep inside I knew that I was lying.
“Yup. Hey! We should double-date sometime.”
“Yeah um how about Saturday night?”
“Sure. I'll just clear it up with Jenna to make sure.”
“And I'll clear it up with Chad.”
“Ok then sounds like a date.”
