Death Eaters: Killed, maimed, and tortured men, women, and children for greed, power and just for fun. They were powerful, ruthless, and scary. They took over the Ministry and inflicted their own twisted views unto the populace. They made a thrown made from the bodies of muggles.

The Volturi: Killed people who wouldn't be missed because they were hungry. Jane tortured Edward once. Jane killed a newborn vampire to show their power once.

Yeah. Death Eaters rule.

You can hardly consider Volturi to be villians at all. They are like vampire police.
If it came down to a fight between the two, the Death Eaters would rip the Volturi to pieces.

Death Eaters actually go out and torture people. They don't just sit back and have other people do their dirty work for them.

HA! This "battle" (or, actually, just the scene of Death Eaters kicking their asses) would be pretty epic. There's no question as to who would win.

Easy, although I really like the Volturi, too.

When all is said and done, the Volturi managed to get into power and hold it. Their power over the Vampires was so strong that they could rule from a different continent. As badass as the Deatheaters were, they let 3 highschool children get the better of them...repeatedly. They were in charge for 1 year and trough that whole time had to fight an active resistance. Out of the 2 wars they waged, they lost them both. Their whole power rested with Voldemort and once he was gone, they collapsed totally.

^Voldemort was trying to get into power. He made very good attempts. And it wasnt just Harry, Ron and Hermione who got the better of him. There were many factors.
-In 1st book: Lily's love for Harry saved Harry and destroyed Voldemort
-2nd book: Harry stabbed the diary erasing Tom Riddle as a memory
-4th book: Harry was able to get back to the portkey but voldemort was back
-5th book: The whole order fought the death eaters and dumbledore fought voldemort.
-6th book: They won. The goal was to kill Dumbledore and thats it. They succeeded...
-7th book: Voldemort was destroyed forever and yes the death eaters fell but most of them became death eaters b/c they were scared, or forced, etc. Most of them didnt do it by choice.

The volturi just set up laws and enforced the. I see them as a government not a villian. They just had standards that vampires must follow or else they would be punished...

^ All of the above just further highlight the Deatheaters incompetence. I also didn't say it was *only* the trio who got the better of the Deatheaters. Fact is the order got the better of them many times *and* the trio also got the better of them repeatedly, many of those times with no help from anyone.

They only killed Dumbledore because Dumbledore let them. Did you read the book? Dumbledore planned all along for Snape to kill him. By the end of book 6, the Deatheaters played right into Dumbledore's hands.

The Volturi managed to overthrow the government at the time. They then proceeded to rule their world for 2500 years, wiping out any resistance against them. They accomplished all of Voldemort's goals: immortality, absolute power, a say on what kind of their being was allowed to exist or not and removed their opposition.

I have read the entire series at least over 10 times. So yes I have read the books!!!

Yes the volturi did do that but I still think that Voldemort made a better villain. They did accomplish Voldemort's goal but the point of HP was to destroy him... That wasnt exactly the point of Twilight. The volturi is all of that and has a lot of control but the fear Voldemort sent throughout the wizarding world is really cool. People are afraid to say his name! His name was tabooed. He was an awesome villian! The voltri did scare people but it was more in the way that we are afraid of the police if we did something wrong. But again thats just my opinion.

I did mean Harry, Ron and Hermione, just not that it was only them everytime. Sometimes they had help, but many times they didn't. I think the fact that those children got the better of the Deatheaters those times is enough to show them as not up to the task.

I too agree that Voldemort was a great and terrifying villian. But Voldemort on his own is not the Deatheaters, just the leader of it. As a group the Deatheaters were not very impressive. Like you said most were not there by choice joining either through fear or by force. Without Voldemort they were nothing. That's why they collapsed both times Voldemort was out of the picture.

The Volturi were not the government. They were not voted in or chosen by other vampires to rule over them. They took power by force and enforced it by force. Vampires followed their dictates not because those were their laws, but because if they didn't follow them, the Volturi would kill them. That's what the Deatheaters were doing during that year they were in power anyway. It's just that the Volturi were strong and ruthless enough to stay in power and the Deatheaters weren't.

But in the end, it's like you said this is just my opinion and these are reasons why I have them.

I agree that its Voldemort who is scary. As for the death eater, only some individuals are scary like Bellatrix. Fenrir Greyback too although he isnt considered a death eater...

Adn yes the fact that the Volturi did take over shows their bad side. Its down to opinions I guess. But the volturi makes good villians too, I just prefer Voldemort!
