Today, I read a post from "youknowit101" on "1000 Reason why Twilight is better than harry Potter", and it completley gave me 秒 thoughts about this whole thing between the rival series. According to this guy, he is very ashamed at the HP 粉丝 for attacking the Twilight 粉丝 and how immature they are, and to be honest, I now couldn't agree more. He's right, HP fans, we are the immature ones, not the Twilighters. We Potterheads are taking HP for granted and using it to rub it in other people's faces.

Now I see why Twilight 粉丝 barley respond to the debates and articles, and it's because all of the HP 粉丝 being rude and disrespectful. I know, as a HP fan, the 图书 and 电影院 are awsome, but that does NOT give us the right to act like stuck-ups [if I offend anyone, I'm truley sorry] about it. Until Twilight came along, HP 粉丝 didn't have any rivalries 或者 debates. It was all about having fun with HP, and now that Twilight came along and is having 更多 attention, HP 粉丝 are reacting with rage. Stephanie Meyer didn't write the 图书 so that it could be 更多流行的 than Harry Potter, it was just supposed to be for people to READ, not compete with any other book, and same with Harry Potter.

Do 你 really think that J.K. Rowling, who was a struggling mother going through a divorce and poverty took all her hard-working time to write a book so that 粉丝 can take avantage of it's popularity and use it to mock other franchises? Have we forgotten about the true meaning of Harry Potter? and it's morals? What have us HP 粉丝 become over the last few years? we were once respected, innocent children who wanted something to believe in, something to make us happy and get away from our troubles. The media would always talk about how we admired Harry Potter in positive ways and how it got us appreciating 图书 more. What happened to all of that? If Miss Rowling knew about all this, I'm sure that she would be very disapointed at our behavior.

The Twilight 粉丝 technecally didn't do any harm on us, do 你 see them having Anti-Harry Potter stuff, NO. why? because they don't CARE! they don't give a shit about Twilight being better than anything else, they don't get up on other people face's [unless they're REALLY obsessed] about how Twilight is better than HP! To be honest, they're the mature ones, not us. We take everything too seriousley. I mean, yes most of the 粉丝 are girls and their female relatives, and yes they are crazy about the actors and how "HOT" they are and all that crap. But hey, Potterheads, remember when millions of girls had huge crushes on Daniel Radcliffe? girls would go nuts over him and did as much stupid crap like seaking into his hotel room and having posters that 说 "Marry Me" as girls nowadays going nuts over Taylor Lautner's abs.

Please, just tell me Potterheads, WHY do really hate Twilight? what is it about it that makes 你 so angry and take 更多 pride in HP? Don't just tell me that it was "boring", because from all the hate that I've seen, it must be something else other than "boring". Are 你 just pissed because it got 更多 media attention, 更多 awards than HP? 或者 is it because 你 can't stand the actors and their characters?

I hope 你 all think about this, because it really is getting stupid. I think it's best if we all just respected each other's opinons and not be rude about it.

SuperSnuffles13 Found it. It's at the bottom of the first paragraph. It says "respectful not be snobby," though it should say "AND not be snobby," LOL.

PotterLambert93 I read everyone's comments, and if I really offended anyone, I'm very sorry. I just got so into writing this article to prove the truth that I didn't choose my words carefully. Sometimes I tend to mix things up, but I did try my best to word it out clearly for all of you. boolander25 made a very good point about that Twi-hards can be vicious and that HP fans will argue back. I guess what I'm trying to say here is that I think this whole HP vs Twilight ordeal is getting a little out of hand at times. LIke others say, the books are very different and we can't really compare them, because one is about Wizards, while the other is about Vampires and Werewolfs. I 'll be back later to finish.

cassie-1-2-3 I find in many cases, the negativity is unprovoked. Some enter with preconceived notions, just assuming someone deserves harsh words. Don't run to the defence of anything unless it needs defending.

Italktosnakes But the thing is, people say we should stop acting immature, but people seem to be forgetting that most of us are only teenagers. I'm not saying that means we can be rude, but give us some slack. We're just defending a book that we love. The reason people started debating with the Twilight fans is because on one of the books it said 'Move Over Harry Potter'( Something like that), and because Twilghters would bash us for liking HP. We got used to having to use more immature ways of debating, because the fans were SO immature that they didn't have the capacity to string well-written sentences. Then the more mature ones came on, and are bashing us for it, when it was the only way for us to communicate with them at the time. It's hard to change hte way we debate, cause we had to be like that for months. Then, I admit, we got used to it being a Harry Potter spot. I guess we got so comfortable, we got shell-shock when all these fans came with clever debates and stuff. But I just hope people get that sometimes we don't WANT to be mature, I get enough of being told to act mature at home and school, this is where we got to get away. So if people bash us for acting like kids; it's cause we ARE :L x

PotterLambert93 I'm back! Here's what I want to say: To jordarchy, YES I'm a Harry Potter fan! I loved HP for years and I will continue to do so til the day I die. If you think that I like Twilight, you must be crazy. I did try to read it twice, and I was into it at first, but after awhile I got bored with the slow romance so I put it down. From what I read in all your comments, I guess that some of you are right about Twilight fans being crazy. Hell, I have a 14-year-old sister who is obsessed with the saga [if you can even call it that]and I did see crazy fans on TV once, so yeah I believe it now. Eventually, we are all going to grow up and get over this stuff. We are young, it's our job sometimes to act crazy and all that. I hope I made more sense.

i-am-mariella That's the point of this spot. HP vs Twilight. The HP fans, including myself, can say that they prefer HP. The Twilight fans can say they prefer Twilight. End of.

boolander25 I don't think that all Twilight fans are crazy. There are some fans that I do respect. The only ones that would really get on my nerves are the ones who can't spell, spam the spot with useless crap that doesn't prove any points and who initiate a an argument with a stupid comment. I'm pretty much referring to fans who are like Hannahtwilight. But that was ages ago, so I don't really see the need for HP fans to be harsh to anyone.

Darkshine Fans of one can be as annoying and mean as the other! We're all the same. The only thing that I mind about Twilight is that fans think it's "TH3 B3ST B00K 3VA" and never look outside the box. Most of the "haters" saw all the plotholes, mistakes and idiotisms in Twilight, the fans didn't. So, there's a fight. Their opinions don't match, they argue and some get really serious in it. I really hate Twilight, but I wouldn't be caught dead arguing with someone about it. If someone attacks me first, I'll attack back. But no pissing off other fans, I promise.

I mean yeah Twi-hards do it to but...they arnt the only ones that brag about their book and say "ITS THE BEST BOOK EVA" or whatever.....so they BOTH do it. not just the Twilighters. And when Twilight came out, all the HP fans started to diss it, because it was popular. so is HP HP had no reason to have a rival book until Twilight just because people like it. Um, so? what if it was the other way around? and then Twilight would be hating on HP and HP would get mad. JKR didnt write the books thinking Twilight would come out. No one did, except SM of course. And im positve SM didnt just write Twilight just to make HP look stupid or stuff like that. She wrote it to write it, and didnt expect so many people to like it. I like both books, and it isnt about "witch one is better" its about people liking whatever book they like, and enjoying it. weather you like HP or Twilight, as least you have your side of people who like it to to talk about your book and going to their movies, or spending hours on end reading the series. Each side is just as bad as the others. But if you HP fans hadnt said something about Twilight, the Twilighters would have never said anything back. And now theres a cycle, i cant stop it from happening, but im just saying the whole thing is ridiculous. Just enjoy your books and be happy people.

theblondegirl The thing is, a lot of people on this site are teenagers, yes. But out there in the real world are a lot of fans of both HP and Twilight that are adults. They're just not posting stuff here at fanpop! If you want to evaluate the fans you need to dig a little deeper than just read some random posts on the Internet. But I do think that all this rivalry begun with the sentence "Move over, Harry Potter" on one of the Twilight books' covers. I think that the magazine/whatev that said so was referring to the huge sales and popularity rather than quality since that's what both of the series do have in common. Unfortunately such a comment caused an uproar among HP fans for quite obvious reasons. I do like bashing Twilight as much as the next person, but I think most of us bashers don't take it all too seriously. I think that most people who say stuff like "Twilight is the best series ever written" don't have much experience in reading. If someone would say "'Catwoman' is the best movie ever made" but have only seen that one film in their lives, I wouldn't take them all too seriously, would I? Of course there are people who actually do read a lot but still like Twilight. I don't really understand it, but I guess they have their reasons. And in those cases it's a matter of taste and I have to respect their right to like whatever. So hate for the real reasons, people - hate ignorance, not personal taste preferences!

ImBooOK just because the back said "Move over HP" doesnt mean SM made the people put that. Those were people who judge books and stuff and they said it. so dont hate because they liked it. it was just a figure of speech. I'm pretty sure Twilighters wouldnt be too happy if it said "Move over Twilight" If it came out first. Then the HP fans would be all like "Well its not like JKR put that there!" so yeah. just because something was said about HP on the fricken back of the book from some CRITICIST doesnt make the statement of it being better true. In my opinion there even to me.

LinaHarrow I agree completely. I've noticed that HP fans around this spot mainly have just taken it overboard with the whole Twilight thing. I know, this isn't all HP fans, and that's not to say that Twi fans don't have debating issues either. I also know that this spot is FOR Twi VS. HP debate. But in multiple places in this club I've seen that people state that no more Twi fans are on here, in which case, why are you debating? Twilight would have no fans here to defend it! I know there ARE Twilight fans on here, but if you didn't think there were, then there would be no point of posting on this spot. Besides, some of what I've seen hasn't even been debating. It's just insults. People stating how they don't like the other series (this is both sides) but giving no or shallow and illogical reasons why. Before I just avoided it because I didn't agree with it, but I think the better thing to do would be to actively not do it. I'll stick around this club now. I will fight for both!

1-2vampire Most of what you said is true, but a lot of HP fans are basically defending their series and not everyone is TWILIGTH SUCCKSSS HP RULEESS! I agree, some people are like that, but it's a debate and there will be some immature people in debate who don't have reasons as to why their series is better. I understand what you mean, but there are also immature Twilight fans, I'm not saying they all are, but some of them are quite immature and irritating, just as some HP fans are. I've seen immature fans on both sides. We're all as bad as each other, if I say so myself.

Kersian I saw your comment on my article which led me here. :) So far this is an eye opener, because the tone of the article has what I feel to be very shocked, appalled, and angry I might say. I would be too if I found out my own family, friends, or people committed something that greatly shamed me. That is one point that if any of us were truly Harry Potter fans and were dedicated to supporting it then we should be able to learn the morals the whole story gives to us. However there's one thing I find to be simple as to why some people act so rudely. Just the fact that we are human. By that I mean to say that perhaps something really compelled us to write like this or comment about that. Or maybe it's just how there is the idea of two sides, choosing one side and fighting for it no matter what. Not caring for the other side and only seeing the other side as the enemy or even just getting caught up in the excitement of the situation. It's ridiculous when viewed by others, but it just goes to show that we people need to learn to control or even temper ourselves a little better.

gandalfgirl I'm sorry, but this is completely and totally inaccurate. The reason most Twilight fans don't debate is because they don't have the ability to do so. Many of my friends are Twilight fans, and although they're very intelligent in their own right, they certainly don't have good debating skills at all. It has nothing to do with excessive insulting -- Harry Potter fans are just better at debate. The person picks the book, and based on that, it is extremely easy to judge in which area a person's intelligence lies. The reason I don't like Twilight is because it's mindless. Although I used to think it was just a laugh before, I really can see it being detrimental to feminism. Meyer's Mormon beliefs shine through the posts coming from my Twilight-loving friends, and it terrifies me. Harry Potter teaches you morals, the unbreakable bond of friendship, and how love really works. Twilight teaches you how how important it is to have a boyfriend. It's really that simple -- I don't like books that destroy all of humanity one page at a time.

HP17pt12bm Yes, I do see some anti HP. And that hurts my feelings. Twilight might be great, I will figure out this summer, when I read my books. I don't bash twilight, but i hate when twilight bashes me. I have been called Crazy, dumb poop (but the other word) and much worse just because of my opinion. And now I am being told to grow up. ImOnlyKait10 I wish that both HP and Twilight fans would call a truce. They can't be compared, they're two different typed of books. I think the media is half of it. Some of the Twilight fans are quite... brutal. Some Harry Potter fans are too, but it's not too common. This is one of the best article's I've read, you did a great job writing this, even though I agree somewhat just not 100% Still an amazing job and a great outlook on the debate:)
