Harry Potter 1. These were the first actual novels I ever read, so they had a big impact on the sort of things I like to read. 2. I've never been intimidated 由 the number of pages in a book. I always figured, if I could read a 636 page book when I was 6 years old, I could probably read a 10,000 page book if it was interesting enough. 3. Most of my favourite 图书 are 幻想 novels. As a child those were the ones that always interested me the most, because Harry Potter is what first got me reading. I'm 阅读 Lord of the Rings right now, then I'm going to read Inkheart, then Eragon... 幻想 is my favourite genre because of Harry Potter. 4. AJ (ChocAttack266) is one of my best friends, and it was pretty much started on a common interest in Harry Potter (and fanfiction... for Harry Potter) 5. It's taught me about a lot of things, such as friendship, family, love, equality, loyalty, bravery, etc. Twilight 1. It gave me something to do on the Eurostar. 2. It made me realise that my fanfiction was full of flat characters, unrealistic romance, and thesaurus rape. I'm now rewriting my fic because of Twilight. I'm just glad I never EVER used words like "scintillating" 或者 "chagrin." However, I did use the phrase "Guilt was mixed with her expression of melancholy and nostalgia." Which is extremely stupid, I admit it. 2.5. On the other hand, I think Twilight was what made me write like that in the first place. I don't remember using such stupid phrases before I read Twilight. *checks dates on word document* OH MY GOD! I wrote that while I was a Twilight fan. It's official, Twilight destroys brain cells. 3. I have done much 更多 research on the topic of feminism (and when I say "research," I mean I watched some 视频 由 MelinaPendulum on the subject). 4. I can now identify a psychologically abusive person. 5. I know what the word "masochistic" means, and I know that Stephenie Meyer obviously doesn't. And finally, my 爱情 of Harry Potter and my hatred towards Twilight have resulted in my discovery of fanpop, and in particular, this spot, where I've met heaps of people who are now my cyber-besties. Nyawww. This has also been a bit of a suckish time in my life, and this 辩论 is something I really enjoy, so it's 给 me a great place to hang out and do nothing but talk about stuff like nargles and Mary-Sues, which is a lovely change.
