‘Glee’ Spoilers: Time Jumps And A ‘Big’ Musical Number In The Series Finale 

series finale is going to feature something that many series finales have done in the past: play around with time. Shows often take the opportunity to jump a few years into the future to offer a look at where everyone ends up in the final moments of the last episode, a way of offering some closure in a way, and the Fox series will be joining that list.

Series star Jane Lynch appeared on VH1’s

series finale spoilers, including an explanation behind a photo that Lea Michele tweeted.

Lynch called the final days shooting “brutal.”

“Those kids grew up on that show and six years – well, actually, it’s about almost eight when you factor in when we shot the pilot and then we sat around for about six months before the first episode of the first season – so that’s a lot of years. It was a gorgeous couple of days, very moving.”

That’s a sentiment Chord Overstreet seems to agree with, as he told

that filming the last episode was emotional for the cast.

“Everybody was bawling and all of a sudden I couldn’t stop laughing. And then everybody started laughing and we couldn’t stop laughing. It was so infectious and it was so amazing. It was one of the best experiences in my life.”

final episodes, as you can see in the video below, and the show won’t only look to the future but will also look back to where (and when) it started as well.

“We also went back in time in one of the episodes that’s coming up. We go back to 2009. We go back to the time of the pilot. And then we go forward five years, so 2020.”

Michele tweeted quite a few photos from the set over the series’ final days, including one of the entire cast with the caption, “Forever my family.”

Lynch teased that that’s from quite a “big” performance of “I Lived,” and fans will probably see quite a few familiar faces during that number.

“That was a big musical number. …Everybody came. Everybody that was in the show who wanted to come was invited.”

series finale, and while he’s not the only one, as you can see in the photo above Michele had tweeted, there is someone who won’t be back. Gwyneth Paltrow spoke to

about the possibility of seeing Holly Holliday again. (She appeared in five episodes, the last one being season 5’s “New Directions.”)

“No, I will not be [returning for ‘Glee’ finale]. I went back for the 100th episode, so that was good.”

can’t return for the series finale, and as you can see from Michele’s photo, enough people are back that it should satisfy fans.

series finale will air Friday, March 20 on Fox.
