Glee First Look: A Reunion-y Season 6 — With Bonus Quinn and Karofsky!

With the musical comedy going back to its roots for its final 13 episodes, however, the show’s writers are introducing a quintet of new kids to pick up the New Directions banner (and bring a little teenage angst to the proceedings).

While Fox has yet to officially confirm the names of the actors who’ve signed on for the roles that TVLine first reported back in August, the news has leaked thanks to the magic of Facebook, Twitter and local news media interviews.

TVLine did a little digging to get some intel on the Season 6 newbies, so check out our gallery below for your first look at Roderick, Spencer, Jane, Mason and Madison, then hit the comments with your thoughts!

That’s what Glee was missing. A ton of new characters we don’t know or care about. Sounds like a fantastic way to say goodbye to characters we’ve loved for 6 seasons. And in a short season! Even better. -_-;

From what we know from spoilers, they are merely props for a few episodes. (Thank goodness)

Oh, phew! I’ve missed all the spoilers thus far, but I think I’ll go investigate now.

Props who are singing more than the original characters. So no, not quite props.

No. I really don’t know where you got your information but that’s a damn dirty lie and I’m pretty sure you know that, but in an attempt to get people to not watch the show you’re going to spread misinformation because if you can’t like the show then nobody else can. MJ’s spoiler blog is available for anybody that would actually like to know the truth.

6 of the 25 songs that are known are exclusively these people. Less than 25%, so lets not spread lies.

Max George has as many solos as Rachel does in the first 4 episodes. So yeah too much.

Except they are taking up songs. Max George The VA guy has 3 solos by episode 4.

What about Kitty? She was the only newbie I liked, they should bring her back for one episode at least.

Kitty is in some episodes. They kept her becasue she was the only one not a total bore.

Wow – they really had to go to the bottom of the barrel didn’t they? They don’t look high school at all – they all look at least 30! Good thing they are really only there to support the originals.

Agree no offense to them but they do look their age, not older actors who can pull off looking younger

13 episodes and we have new newbies hell might as well kept the old ones and bumped them down to recurring.

Honestly, I enjoyed the last group of kids (Marley, Jake, Unique). Hopefully, we get to see them as well before the end

Same here. Why don’t they keep them and expand their storylines like they did with those before them. Now we have to get used to new characters. Don’t like this. I will still watch the season.

Where did the other choir kids (Marley, Jake…etc) go? Are they going to still be on the show?

There hasn’t been any mention of them anywhere that I’ve seen. I thought I saw Jake in the background of a publicity shot somewhere but I haven’t been able to track it down again.

Not necessarily. As the spoilers indicate, Sue made all of them besides Kitty, her star Cheerio, transfer. Kitty’s back as of the second episode and has some focus in the following episodes, she’s probably back in New Direction. Unique is back for just the seventh episode for now but nothing about Marley, Jake or Ryder, though Jake Artist apparently told a fan that he knew he’d be back.

Honestly I like them more than the last few, save Unique and Kitty. Where the old ones lost it for me was that their characters were carbon copies of the recently graduated, these guys seem much more original to me. Besides, they’re merely going to be used as talking props anyways.

With Kurt and Rachel going up against Sue to start the Glee Club again, they needed some bodies in the room who were high school students. Choices don’t seem too bad. But, like others have mentioned…where are Marley and Jake and Unique and Kitty? If none of them are returning, it does make me wonder how much time has passed since the last season. I do feel a little cheated that we’re only getting 13 episodes. I hate when a series “rushes” to tie up all the loose ends before the finale…and keep it fresh at the same time.

Considering they’re all a bunch of people without a major production credit in America), the choices seem pretty bad.

Think about the first season cast. Most of them really didn’t have much experience, either.

Not true: the adult cast was made of semi-famous actors and both Cory Monteith and Dianna Agron had been appearing in smaller roles on established shows for years.

Also you need something to attract new viewers when ratings start to fall. Last season it looked like they finally got casting right but both Adam and especially Demi were underused and completely gone by the full shift to New York.

Funny cause Dianna is one of the weaker actors on the show. Sad how mediocre talent and a pretty face gets you roles.

According to spoilers, Sue forced the other batch of kids to transfer schools after disbanding the Glee club (save Kitty, who is still a Cheerio and at McKinley). They are ll seniors in high school now. Kitty will be appearing an multiple episodes in season 6 (and has a little focus) while Unique will be appearing in episode 7 (an episode said to be very positive and focused on Coach Beiste). Jacob Artist has said he knew Jake would be back but doesn’t know when (only 3 episodes left to film so….) So he, Melissa Benoist (Marley), and Blake Jenner (Ryder) are unaccounted for as of now. In my opinion, I don’t think Melissa and Blake will return. Melissa did seem pretty mad about the terrible treatment the “old newbies” faced during season 5. So I wouldn’t hold my breath on her or Blake coming back (since they are engaged and all..)

Maybe if she wasn’t so bland on screen as Marley should would have been back.

Blame the “writers” not the actors. They can only say what’s in the script.

Less newbies, I liked Jake and Kitty and even Unique. Focus on them. Not a bunch of random people who will be taking time away from the interesting characters.

I love the casting for Jane because when I read the cast breakdown for her earlier this year, I pictured a white girl. It’s always nice to see diverse casting choices that seem to be more than just “the black girl” (*cough*Mercedes*cough*)

They describe her as “unconventionally pretty” and this girl looks standard pretty. So what’s so “unconventional” about her? I pictured a dwarf or albino or something. They’ll probably make her wear glasses which is Hollywood shorthand for “ugly”.

Agree that these people look old.

They are going by Allessandra Stanley’s definition of unconventionally pretty so dark skinned, African American a la Viola Davis.

They described Rachel as unconventionally pretty too. So in other words if you aren’t blond and generic like Dianna Agron you fall into the unconventionally pretty role.

I don’t see why they can’t cast bigger names. Call it stunt casting if you will, but at least it brings viewers. It wouldn’t be so bad to raid Disney for a few people or maybe a former American Idol/Voice/X Factor contestant. Bring in people that viewers want to see.

Why cast bigger names for a lsmall role. These kids won;t be the focus. So hire some newbies they can get cheap.

They don’t look any less “long-in-the-tooth” than the other cast members. Why not just give the screen time to the original cast?

Yes, it would have been better to keep the other ones in the show but clearly the writers and producers screwed that up. I mea, at least we will be able to see Kitty in at least 6-8 episodes next season and have Unique return for at least 1 or 2. Not too sure about the other three though. But yeah, I’m excited to see these “new Newbies” haha. And just an FYI, they are NOT getting too much focus. They are like flavor characters to Rachel’s storyline. Yes, they’ll be able to sing but not much. Just wait until the season premieres to make your judgments.

Ah yes, just what we always wanted. Except not. Another bunch of nobodies, and boy, did the scrape the bottom of the barrel for these, to take up time in the very last, and cut season, instead of allowing us to say proper good byes to people we do care about. Please, don’t even try with they’re just props. We’ve all seen the song spoilers, they sing more than anyone but Rachel. They are going to suck up precious time and songs. Waste of space. No wonder Glee tanked. It’s about to be totally buried.

Hate the entire premise of season 6! Rachel makes it on Broadway and then throws her dream away to work in television (doesn’t anyone else remember how she told Finn she didn’t want to work in Hollywood?) only to crash and burn and land back in Lima – this is NOT the reason we watched for 6 seasons! And for Kurt and Blaine to quit NYADA, Sam to quit modeling…POINTLESS, AWFUL and a A TERRIBLE ENDING to what used to be a great show!

Wonder if they’re going to forget about the “must have 12 members” rule or just fill the club with props like Matt (season 1) and the Troubletones. Too bad they didn’t shift the whole series 5-10 years in the future and make it about Schue convincing the ex-New Direction members to take a break from their fabulous lives to put on a fundraiser (or something). All the original members we care about could get an update (sorry Matt!) and they wouldn’t be stuck in stupid story lines. A kid in the best theater school in NYC doing an internship in Ohio? Ok, sure.
