daenerys picked Awful:
There was too much going on & it all lacked subtlety, cohesion and appropriate emotion. Even the scenes I should have enjoyed turned out to be campy & terribly written.

Imagine my dismay when Wikipedia tells me that it was written by Martin.

:"D daenerys is hard to please, as always. :DD

I think this episode made me feel like I watching six miniepisodes from different shows. No cohesion at all. None whatsoever. Absolutely zero. I can't think of another way to put it, but you get what I say...

Brienne Jaime thing was all right, I could finally see Nikolaj Coster-Waldeu(au?other?) using his eyes a mimicry to channel emotions. (You see, so far I never got to get a glimpse at his face or eyes from all the dirty greasy hair hanging into his face all the time to convince us of his tantrum and unfortunate fate and hygienic circumstances, in case we are too lame to understand that otherwise). I thought the bear was cute too.

Daenerys was not wearing proper make-up :O That was a rare and treasured moment as well, gave a whole new angle to look at Daenerys (and Emilia Clark's acting). Yunkai is generous and rich in gold, but where are the MAC stores, great masters? The dragons were cute too.

Arya was not cute. She is so boring. Liars! Traitors! I hate you!

Robb and Talisa... ASAP project so that we'll feel sorry for them next week? Nice try.

Theon... oh my... This Iwan person is a great actor indeed and visual effects, make-up and Alfie Allen make me feel dutifully sorry for Theon, though the first two sort of pushes the all-together effect towards disgust. I have a stomach, you know... But that was not what bothered me now. Nor the perversion in Iwan's eyes. Nor Theon's screams. Tell me. Does Ramsay Bolton's torture chamber slut have to have a Brazilian wax too? F*** being authentic, but beauty industry is manipulating me even from a medieval torture chamber? Just try not americanizing a medieval-fantasy world show too...

Sophie was getting back to herself, her acting almost reached the season 2 standard.

Tywin and Joffrey... I was so hoping for a harsher and more badass chastening to be honest. But the cut when Tywin stood over Joffrey was nice. And Jack Gleeson is indeed a great actor, but beside Charles Dance... heh... well, you could see the difference. No problem. Jack will get as laid back and classy as Charles is with time.

Shae was annoying, Bronn was fun, Melisandre and Gendry was a surprisingly nice surprise, to keep up the rich and expressive vocabulary I'm providing...

All in all, I sort of enjoyed this episode, it was entertaining and a relief after the disaster called Episode 6 last weekend. The fact that the writing was poor and the structure was... oh wait, there was just no structure at all... Well... Don't be so greedy, people. One step and one Stark baby at a time...

A good episode and better than Nr. 6, but that don't match it. No atmosphere, no real emotional moments, even the Tywin/Joffrey scene and the end with Brienne, Jaime and the Bear disappointed me.
