It was called Why Daenerys Will Win Game Of Thrones' Great War
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
\' seventh season, and anticipation for HBO\'s fantasy drama is at an all-time high. With just two short seasons left before the series\' long awaited conclusion, the time has come to look toward the future of the series. The Great War will eventually come to an end, and one ruler will sit as the victor on the Iron Throne. And if the folks at HBO know what\'s good for them, they\'ll let Emilia Clarke\'s Daenerys Targaryen pull out a win. Aside from fan expectations, here are a few reasons why Dany will eventually the Game of Thrones.
, you\'re going to need ground troops. While Theon was able take Winterfell with a handful of soldiers, that was definitely an anomaly. Every other powerful house has an army of their own, and Dany\'s is out of control. Because in addition to the Unsullied that have vowed to fight for House Targaryen, Dany recently accrued a massive horde of Dothraki riders. These troops are absolutely savage, and will likely be able to rip through more traditional Westerosi soldiers. And while Dany is likely hoping to recruit more traditional soldiers during her time conquering, she\'s got a major head start with the Unsullied and Dothraki.
While Cersei Lannister might have finally seated herself upon the Iron Throne, she\'s not exactly a beloved ruler. Through
\' six seasons, Cersei has shown absolutely no regard for the citizens of Westeros, instead focusing completely on her own personal vendettas. And we\'ve seen how the common folk in King\'s Landing loathe the newly crowned queen. There was a riot Flea Bottom in Season 2, we saw how the King\'s Landing residents mocked and attacked her during her walk of atonement, and in the Season 6 premiere featured some Flea Bottom residents were openly mocking Cersei. And although the zombified Mountain killed one particularly loud commoner, he won\'t be able to massacre every naysayer in the country. If Dany shows kindness and counters Cersei\'s cruelty, she\'ll be able to win over the common folk and lead with the adoration of the people.
was accruing a fleet of ships to sail west with. Not only must she and her advisers arrive in Westeros, but so must her army. Luckily, Cersei\'s destruction of the Sept of Baelor did just that. In an attempt to get revenge on the heartless queen, House Tyrell (along with House Martell), pledged its allegiance to Daenerys. With the vast wealth of Margaery\'s broken house now behind Dany, she was able to amass enough ships to sail. So in addition to her ground troops and dragons, she\'s also able to engage in naval battle in her quest for power.
One thing we\'ve heard about Winterfell is how "The North Remembers". And with Jon named the new King of the North, we can expect the Northern houses to stand up against Cersei\'s queendom. But Winterfell doesn\'t have enough resources to take on King\'s Landing by itself. Enter Dany, who will likely team up with Jon in their rebellion against House Lannister. And considering that the two likely share a family bond through Dany\'s late brother Rhaegar (who is probably Jon\'s biological father), it seems like a match made in heaven. After already witnessing Jon die in the Season 5 cliffhanger, I doubt that everyone\'s favorite Bastard will on the wrong side of
\' conclusion. Dany and Jon are perhaps the two most beloved characters, and their combined strategic brains and morality are a recipe for success.
\' long tenure, Dany\'s three dragons have proved to be her trump card on many occasions. And now that the trio are fully grown, she\'s packing heat that will be hard to topple by her enemies. The Targaryens have historically used their dragons to conquer Westeros, as ground and mounted soldiers are basically helpless against fiery attacks form above. But besides the dragons\' role in getting Dany to the Iron Throne, they will also probably be the saving grace of the entire country once the Knight King\'s army of dead descend upon Westeros. Only dragonglass and Valerian steel have been known to kill White Walkers, and both of those materials are extremely rare nowadays. But the three dragons would be able to dispose of the dead easily, so Dany is truly the only hope that Westeros has to survive the War To Come.
The politics of Westeros are all about bloodlines, and House Targaryen were the rightful rules for generations. But when the Mad King proved to be an unstable ruler, Robert Baratheon and his allies rose up to revolt and take the Iron Throne. After Robert died, we saw as five kings rose up to try and claim power and the Iron Throne. But none of them actually had much of a claim, as Dany was alive and well in Essos. Cersei has only ascended to Queen of the Seven Kingdoms because her children and husband died, but Dany has an actual blood tie to the Iron Throne. If Westerosi residents want to go back to the way things used to be, then they\'ll likely support Dany\'s claim, and just pretend that the brief Baratheon rule didn\'t happen.
