Chapter 17: 迷失 Lovers

He couldn't help but tense up, his blood practically freezing in his veins. 夏洛特 sat 前锋, 期待 to lean her elbows on her knees, Mason releasing her hand and retracting his arm from around her. "I bet 你 think I'm a drama queen." He felt like he should take her back in his arms, she just seemed so vulnerable  even though she was just inches from him. "Not at all. I'd be totally destroyed if the person I loved harmed me." She scooted her legs around so they would be folded behind her bottom. She put one hand out to steady herself, and the other  in her lap. Mason sat with his one leg kicked up to chest level while the other was turned slightly outward and lying on the cement. "I don't see 你 any different, you're still the 夏洛特 I have came to know." 夏洛特 shuffled around, trying to make the best of the silence between the two, when she felt a warm sensation on her hand, upon tracing the feeling she found a calloused hand upon hers. The hand had inevitably belonged to Mason, who was gazing down at her with a deep blush spreading across his cheeks. He tightened his grip on her hand and intertwined her fingers with his own. Once she looked up at him, she knew what he wanted. Both teen's breathing became erratic and rushed, 夏洛特 placing her free hand on his heaving chest while he tucked the large curl that covered her eye behind her ear. She leaned up toward the slightly taller male as a beat of sweat trickled down his face. She balled his black wife-beater in her fist as he targeted her lips. They were so busy they didn't hear the steps coming up the stairs to the roof. The small door to the roof was kicked open as flashlights were shone all around the roof and eventually the light was swept upon  the couple. They had been caught.  'So close.....' He thought to himself. "Charlotte, Ed! What are ya-" Hughes was the holder of the flashlight, followed 由 Havoc, Breda, Feury. and Falman  , who all shined their lights on the two. They were both still sitting down their hands still wrapped in the other's, buy they had taken hands off each other and shield their eyes. Major Hughes adjusted his glasses. "I know I just got up and my eyes might not be real great but......" Havoc interjected and stepped away from the group. "That's not Edward."   Mason stood up first and offered 夏洛特 his hand to help her up. She rose to her feet and closed Mason's 涂层, 外套 tighter around herself. "Well wouldn't 你 know it, everybody seems to be after Charlotte. You've become quite the heartbreaker, miss." 说 Hughes as he bent slightly 前锋, 期待 and pushed his glasses farther up on his nose. "What are 你 doing up here?" 说 Mason as 夏洛特 slowly shuffled farther away from him. "We could ask 你 the same thing." Breda chuckled and rose his brows. "We're up here because there was a power surge earlier and we can't find the cause of it."  Mason scratched his head and laughed sheepishly. "Yeah, that was me. I used some of your power to fix my automail." The 'search team' relaxed and talked amongst each other, all in their pajamas. "Roy called us into work to look for what what going wrong. Looks like we found it." Havoc elbowed hughes, this was one of those rare times he could be seen without a cigarette hanging between his lips. "Naw, this kid was doin' somethin' right." 夏洛特 rolled her eyes and groaned as she flowed through the group of men with flashlights, Mason, fearing he had done something wrong, followed her down the stairwell. 

"What's the matter?" She had already hit the bottom of the stairs when he began his chase, he leapt over the banister and landed safely on his two feet, a few feet away from Charlotte. He sprinted to her and grabbed her 由 the shoulders , spinning her around to face him. "What's the problem?" Mason found a pair of bloodshot green eyes staring lazily back at him. "Sleep deprived." Was all she could muster as she rubbed her eye.  "Let's get 你 back to your room." He didn't attempt to carry her 或者 touch her hand, instead, he just walked beside her. He realized that he had missed his chance with her, he had noway of crossing into the "More than a friend zone". He didn't even know if she returned the feeling, maybe she still had feelings for her boyfriend from her past life and was just using Mason to bring him to her. All these terrible thoughts whirled through his head, bouncing off the walls and echoing throughout his mind, so fast that he hadn't realized that they had arrived back at their apartments, 夏洛特 standing 下一个 to hers awkwardly. She slowly removed her borrowed coat, one sleeve at a time. She handed it back to him and sort of waited idly for him to say something. Instead he smiled a depressed smile and entered his  apartment, 夏洛特 doing the same.

She smelled of a light cologne, it was emanating from her clothes as she quietly crawled back into her big blue bed. She retch up to untuck her hair from behind her ear, but stopped half way and decided not to, he had done it after all, he must like it there. So she slept the remainder of the morning with that one curl behind her ear. 

Mason, on the other hand was having issues finding his room, fumbling through the darkness of the occupied apartment.  He eventually found his room and hung his blue Flammel 夹克 on the 床, 床上 post.  A strange scent had caught his nose as he went to remove his shirt. It was the jacket, it smelled of a dozen roses. He smirked and pulled the 夹克 back on, slipping silently into 床, 床上 with the smell of her lingering on him, it felt like she was right there with him.
