I know there's already an 文章 talking about this, but I needed to get this out of my chest. This 文章 contains spoilers from the Season 3 finale.

I am outraged at the wasted potential that was Troy Otto. This is a character study and I just wanna start 由 saying that Troy deserved so much better and so much 更多 and that the writers totally fucked him over.

From what we know about Troy before we met him, he grew up in an abusive family, with a drunk mom and an alcoholic father. His father was an asshole and an extremely racist being, so it's not a surprise that Troy was too. That's the only thing he ever knew. He grew up in a closed community, didn't go to school like every normal kid did. He was 首页 schooled, because his father was a paranoid bastard who kept his kids from knowing anything else than the ranch, well Troy at least. Because Jake went to college, and that probably explains why Jake was so different from those two.

The biggest difference between Troy and his father is that Jeremiah hated the Native Americans and that's how he raised Troy. But Troy's racism didn't come from hate, it came from fear of the unknown and that's why Nick says that he's "freaking out" when he was surrounded 由 Mexicans at the Bazaar. He was uncomfortable because he was in a situation he'd never been in before.

He didn't have a social life, he never had any friends, and he never trusted anyone until the Clarks came along. He trusted Madison first, which makes his death even worse to me, and then he trusted Nick like his own brother, and these are his own words. He never knew what a loving mother was like, and Madison showed him. He didn't have a really good relationship with his own brother, and he liked Nick 更多 and trusted him more, because Nick actually saw past his violent tendencies and saw the potential he had inside him. Nick decided to give him a chance and help him actually function in a group, and helped 显示 him what a real family should be like.

Troy had just started to actually socialize and make friends. He was evolving, he was learning another way and that's why he was scared at first. But in the last episode he was opening up about it and he seemed genuinely happy, way 更多 so than when he was with his own family. He was ready to 移动 on with them, to make amends, to start new, start fresh, to bury the hatchet. And Madison was on board. She told him straight up they were good, and he believed her. He smiled, he was happy, he had finally found his place in this world.

link already went in depth into why Troy absolutely didn't need to die, so I won't go in details. But I absolutely agree, Troy did NOT have to die! At all! The entire scene didn't make any sense. If anything, it would've at least made 更多 sense for Daniel to kill him, because at least he had a reason. Madison did not. She had no right to do what she did, she had no reason whatsoever, whatever she claims, Troy didn't take anything from her! She blamed him for Travis' death, which doesn't make any sense, because the helicopter crash was caused 由 Walker's people, not Troy. Everything that mattered to her, she still had. Nick was right there, and Alicia left all 由 herself, no one forced her, she made her own decision. The only thing Troy "took" from her, we took he ranch, and the ranch was NOT hers to begin with, it was his! Trot didn't take ANYTHING from Madison, except her spoiled 幻想 at having a happy Christmas, which is unrealistic anyways!

Furthermore, like I mentioned earlier, she had just had a discussion with Troy, talking about making amends and starting fresh. And then, she acted on impulse, like a spoiled brat, and I'm sorry, but that's exactly what she was in that moment! And she killed him, in cold blood. He didn't have any weapons. After the first blow, he could've have responded and attack her, try to defend himself from her, but he didn't. That shows how much his character as evolved.

He looked shocked, stunned and straight up hurt. His look was hurt. Hurt that the woman he trusted, the woman who just told him that she was glad he took care of he son, he woman who just asked him to continue to take care of Nick, the woman who he started to see as his mother, who was 更多 of a mother to him that his own mother ever was. He couldn't believe she could do that to him. Not after everything they went through. Not after everything he did for Nick, her baby. Not after he was the reason they knew about the attack from the Proctors. And I understand him because that's how I felt too.

I had a mix of three emotions during this scene. I was extremely sad, especially after the look of his face. I was frustrated that his story would end like this, after all the progress he had done, after all the efforts he had made, after all the good will he showed. I was disappointed that the writers would do that to him. Would waste all the development they did with him. Would waste an extremely interesting and complex character like him.

His death brings absolutely nothing to the story, other than to create a rift between Nick and Madison. Which could've happened in a number of other ways. Troy did not have to die for this to happen. It had already happened back in season 2 when Nick decided to leave after Madison killed Celia. They didn't need to do it again. TROY DID NOT HAVE TO DIE!!!

Troy deserved better. I can never say that enough. I have never been so disappointed and angry at a character's death in the Fear/TWD universe. Because in this 显示 and on the original one, as sad as some deaths are, they always have a purpose. This one didn't. And that means it's just poor and shitty writing, and that pisses me off to no end. It was only for shock value and to please the haters, nothing more. And the writers should feel ashamed of this. I hope they see what they've done and the repercussions on the fandom and I hope they regret it and that's it's eating them up. And I don't feel sorry for them for the hate they surely are getting right now. I hate when writers do 粉丝 service in their writing, because it's always shitty and 随意 and stupid. Like Troy's death.

Daniel Sharman also deserved better, as I found out that Dave Erickson had told him he wouldn't die this season and at the last minute, he changed his mind. (link.) That is not a way to treat one of your actors.

May Troy rest in peace. My blessed little precious angel. You'll be solely missed and will be remembered.
