Chapter 1

‘I know this isn’t the way things are meant to be.’

The thought echoed in his mind. ‘It is not meant to be like this… I…’

‘I am…’

The thought stopped there. Really who was he really, a demon, a lord, someone with the potential to rule over vast lands with an army of demons unrivaled in the known world, all crying in salutation and praise for… Sesshomaru…. Sesshomaru, all hail the great Lord? He could hear the words, the roar of the crowds pronouncing the all too familiar sound of his name with no less a force than the waves crashing upon the seas coast. He could hear it echoing along no differently in the background of… ‘who am I… am I really…. It is not supposed to be like this.’

‘… it’s not supposed to be like this!’

‘Damn it!’

A wave crashed against a rock, the force was harder this time for the white spray came noticeably closer. His eye caught upon the droplets as they fell and landed on the gray terrain before him. He felt it, even though he were yards away the slightest chill from the droplets as they came soaring through the air sending out waves of cold that vertebrate outwards to meet his skin. The sensation was no different than actual contact, being in such close vicinity. He took a mental note of it, but that was all. Even though such a skill was what made his power truly admirable, it was nothing new to him, since he was born with it.

It was in his makeup, having been born into such a high class and noble family his hearing and sense of smell weren’t the only senses about him that were keen he could also feel out the differences of the world around him, a skill which ran in the family. Every hair on his body was like a tiny antenna, where even the tiniest feeling like a falling droplet of water could send tremors running through him signaling to him that a droplet had fallen. It’s how he was always aware even when asleep, that something was happening 或者 all was calm his body knew it before his mind does, sometimes long before; it’s one of the secrets to his skill, as well as to his power.

Consciously he would be aware of this and every time attribute as much of it to his pride as the mental note accounted for. It now told him that many droplets fad fallen and that they had come closer, much closer. He looked to the horizon.

But there was something else his senses were telling him.

The winds were blowing harder now. The sky has been fully 灰蒙蒙, 阴云密布 since daybreak, but it wasn’t until an 小时 以前 did he care to notice. The sky was dark, grayish blue with a hint of green, a storm was brewing, and it was Typhoon season. That time of the year, and a single great storm had yet to have its say over the lands of this mortal world.

How strange it felt to realize he was an immortal being in a mortal world, and how alien this recognition made him feel being so far away from where he rightfully belonged, as though he had crossed into a strange foreign land. Though he had walked these paths countless times before, only now did it occur to him how different he truly was, from what lay around him, and from the very trepidation which brought up from his gut, he was a lord, he was superior… he was….

He gritted his teeth. He was… bleeding.

It has been one 日 since the encounter but his wounds had yet to close on their own. He knew the reason for this, it was shock. Such trauma had its way to affect the body’s functions, and in this case prevented him from healing. He just couldn’t accept it…. How… how did this happen…. When did I become so weak?

Weakness, it had to be…. He was injured and there was n excuse for that. What else could it be?

What else could it have been?

A 日 以前 he came upon this demon, was he just being careless… a demon he had assumed was of no particular threat to him, and yet before he had successfully slew the fool for annoying him, the demon managed to get in one good hit on him.

A common ogre, with its spiked mallet, and he doesn’t know how it really happened but somehow before the beast succumbed to the form of rubble on the 草 of the valley where the incent occurred the ogre somehow manage to 摇摆, 秋千 his mallet well enough to have hooked his left shoulder and grazed it with a deep red bruise.

The shock of this drove Sesshomaru to kill this beast with far 更多 power than was clearly necessary. It was only for a instant that he let his anger get the better of him, but it was enough to send the body of that ogre, a creature that was at least ten times his size into bite sized parts… too bad he doesn’t eat ogre, this would have been far too convenient. But he was no such beast, and the scent of the ogre’s blood only disgusted him, so he moved on. Ignoring the dulling pain that nagged from his shoulder as he moved on, however not a moment too soon.

“Sesshomaru!”

Came the familiar voice. It was Inuyasha, and of course it was. Only he would pop out of the woodwork at a time like this… what?

“What did 你 do with that ogre? Where is it?”

Hm, Sesshomaru thought to himself as he glared back at him, covering his curiosity with his typical mask of ice. What is this idiot babbling about, why would he care about some forgettable ogre? But the demand came again, “Sesshomaru, what did 你 do with it?”

“I killed it.” Came the obvious response. What else was there to say, the facts were obvious. The blood was in the air and his back was to the valley where the remains lay. What other outcome could be 更多 obvious? He was Inuyasha, his nose had to be as keen to pick up the right messages, he was of the same blood line, just being a damn half-breed couldn’t affect his skills that much could it? Could it?

“Damn 你 Sesshomaru! I knew it!”

This was confusing and a bit irritating, for who cares about a damn ogre, this boy was starting to annoy him 更多 than usual, when 犬夜叉 spouted out, “Damn it, I knew I should have came sooner. That Ogre knew something about the demon that attacked our village. I had yet to make it talk. And 你 killed it!”

Oh, now it makes sense. He wanted information out of it. Hm, oh such a pity, Sesshomaru though then shrugged inwardly while passively turning away, all the while saying the words, “If your village was attracted who’s fault was it that it happened in the first place?” it was all he needed to say.

The ever predictable hanyou came flying. Sword unsheathed and flaring out, “damn 你 Sesshomaru… that beast almost killed Kagome!” The last syllable of his words fell just as their swords clashed, sending a flash of light out from the impact. The Tenseiga sang in unison with the Tetsuaiga’s searing roar. Of course he drew the Tenseiga, it was not a weapon, and at the moment he cared not to see the Tetsuaiga dissolve into a puddle of molten scrap metal from the power of his prized Bakusaiga. He only intended to block the attack, which he succeeded in doing with relative ease, however... baka.

Sesshomaru was in no mood for this, nor for 犬夜叉 at this particular moment and made a bold 移动 to send the boy out flying well beyond the line of the trees with hopes that he’ll take the hint and get lost, but of course just as he should have known the last thing he heard was “Wind Scare!” the light from the attack blinded him, yet with his special skills was able to dodge the attack before the blades could cut him, but that wasn’t the end of his brother’s attack. For before he knew it 犬夜叉 was on 最佳, 返回页首 of him, swords clashed in mid air. Again he sent him flying before landing gracefully on his toes upon the soft ground, this time maybe… when his ears picked up, “Adamant Barrage!” Alarm struck him, just as a sudden pain struck through his arm and lower side, a lesser streak from his lower leg and he realized just as he moved that he had been hit. Though he blocked the majority of the greater shards some of the smaller ones and their splinters had pierced him. The shock was 更多 than he could bear, for not only did that lowly creature from before get it hit on him, so did not his little brother, a hanyou. The fact must have been obvious for 下一个 he heard, “heh! How 你 like that! 你 Bastard!” Naturally it came with a nulling feeling to respond with silence; he would not justify his brother senseless words with as much as a retort. He sneered.

‘That little bastard actually hit me!’ At that instant he was soaring through the air. His body obviously sprang to action before his mind could catch up. And realized once it did that he had run away, he was soaring through the winds.

Knowing full well that he had escaped…. His right hand was clinging to the wound on his upper arm, blood pouring out from between his fingers like little messengers of his misfortune leaving a trail of crimson mockery behind him, not even conscious of the fact that the same was occurring from his abdomen and lower leg… but over all that he was running away… Away. Why, and from what?

He was humiliated, embarrassed beyond belief. Not only did he fail to win the battle and defeat his brother with ease, which he absolutely knew he could do, instead he fled. Fled, as though he had run from a fight… as if he knew fear, no, he knew that wasn’t the reason, it was not fear that drove him away, it was… it was…. what was it? Some form of dreaded apprehension stirred in him, was it from his heart, why did he run away? What was it he was really running from? Once again the words echoed in the depth of his mind… ‘No… it isn’t supposed to be like this…. Who am I?’
Crowley and Balthazar were standing opposite each other. Balthazar had summoned Crowley to have a one on one chat about Kevin.
“You must possess an incredible amount of nerve to meet me here on your own” Crowley 说 mundane.
“We’re kind of short on angels” Balthazar replied. “I know your time’s precious, so is mine, so let me cut to the chase, shall I?”
“Please” Crowley answered uninterested.
“You have something that belongs to us” Balthazar started.
“You mean the tablet?” Crowley asked with raised eyebrows. “Or Kevin?”
“Both” Balthazar answered.
“And you...

Cas took Ellen’s arm and disappeared. He landed in the ICU, 下一个 to Jo’s bed.
“Warn me if someone’s coming. I don’t know how long this will take” Cas 说 dispassionately. Ellen nodded and walked to the door. She opened it and walked outside.
Cas sank down on the 床, 床上 and lay his hands on both Jo’s temples. He closed his eyes and prayed for Jo to open her eyes.
And she did. At first everything was a blur. She reached out her hand and touched Cas’ face. “Dean?” she mumbled weak. When Cas’ face became clearer she withdrew her hand. “I’m sorry”
Cas didn’t reply, but...

Cas appeared outside Dean’s room, ignoring the short shrieks of the nurses. He opened the door and Sam looked up.
“You came” he 说 relieved.
“I’m sorry I left” Cas said. “There were things I needed to take care of”
“Yeah, sure, but can 你 save that for later?” Sam said. “Right now we really need your help”
“What’s going on?” Cas asked numb.
“Zoey didn’t just shoot Dean. She also shot Jo” Sam said.
“Jo’s dead?” Cas asked soft. Sam shook his head. “No, not yet” he said. “But her life’s hanging 由 a thread and 你 might be her only hope”
Cas...

Sam was sitting at Dean’s death bed, when the door opened and Ellen walked in. Sam was 迷失 in grief, so he didn’t hear her. It wasn’t until she lay her hand on his shoulder that he looked up.
“Ellen?” he 说 confused. He hadn’t thought about calling anyone, so why was she here? “Did Cas call you?” he asked, though he knew that couldn’t be the case.
“No” Ellen 说 numb. “I had to be here” Then, with a little 更多 strength in her voice, she said: “That 婊子, 子 shot my daughter”
“What?” Sam exclaimed while getting up. “Well, where is she? Is she going to be okay?”...

Elena opened her eyes and gasped for air. She sat up and pulled the threads on her body. She climbed out of 床, 床上 and opened the door.
She covered her ears when she heard dozens of shoes stepping on the floor, people talking as if they were screaming through a megaphone.
“Shut up!” she screamed and a few staff members turned around.
“Are 你 alright, miss?” a nurse asked. Elena shook her head confused. She leaned against the room. Everything was a blur. “I’ll get a doctor” the nurse and she looked around to find one.
Elena hurried away. She was hungry. She needed to eat something...

They heard the door close and wondered who came barging in, until a familiar, female and British voice solved the mystery.
“Anyone home?” Rebekah called from downstairs.
“Ugh” Damon sighed. “I’ll go” He stood up and walked to the door, but when he wanted to open it, the door was slammed in his face and Rebekah barged in. She held a guy in her right hand and a blood bag in her left hand.
“What are 你 doing here?” Elena asked tired.
“I came to apologize” Rebekah explained flighty, while she tossed the bag to Damon. “I was wrong to bite you. It’s just that I busted Stefan smooching with that vamp strumpet and 你 look like her, so I got carried away. I don’t understand what it is that draws Stefan to women with your appearances. You’re not even that pretty”
“I appreciate your honesty” Elena 评论 sarcastically.
“Hey, I’m as open as your legs were last night” Rebekah replied blunt and Elena’s cheeks turned red.
Caroline parked her car on the parking lot of the school. Since Damon didn’t have a car anymore he couldn’t drive them and either way, Damon nor Elena minded being banned to the backseat of Caroline’s car.
“We’re there” Caroline said, excited and nervous.
“Yeah, 你 go ahead” Damon mumbled, before he kissed Elena.
“Come on, guys, not in my car” Caroline reproached. She stepped out of the car and walked around to Elena’s door. She opened it and pulled Elena out of the car. “Try to restrain yourself a little” she 说 with a sharp look at Elena.
Elena turned to Damon....

Summer 2007

Daphne and Roland were lying in the woods, enjoying the sun and playing like teenagers in love.
At the 支撑, 海岸 of the lake there was a handsome twenty-five 年 old man.
“Go on, Martin” a female voice said. “You can do it”
Martin turned around. “Zoey!” he 说 enthusiastic and clapped his hands. Zoey came to him and he hugged her tight. “Martin loves Zoey”
Zoey caressed his hair. “I know, darling, I know” she 说 sweet. “You want to go take a dip in the lake?” she suggested.
Martin looked at her and she could see the conflict in his eyes. It was really hot and...

Cas examined the rectangle he had found on the floor of his cell. There had been a note on it. ‘A present from Meg. Use it when 你 need me’
A strange warmth filled Cas’ 心 as he read the note over and over again as if it were a 爱情 letter. Somewhere behind all that tough 表演 Meg cared for him. He knew that now and when he got out he would find her and convince her to give him another chance. He wouldn’t be so needy anymore, he wouldn’t…chase her like a 迷失 puppy.
“I’m starting to think someone wrote a novel on that small piece of paper” a British voice said.

It was visiting 小时 in prison and a guard told Cas someone wanted to see him. Cas expected to see Dean 或者 Sam, but when he entered the visitors room it was Zoey who waved at him discreetly.
The guard brought him to the 表 and then withdrew himself. Cas sat down.
“Hi, Emmanuel” Zoey 说 full of compassion. “I’m sorry. Castiel, right? Daphne told me 你 found out who 你 are. How do 你 like your new old life?”
Cas looked around him, then back at Zoey and let his shoulders hang.
“I’m sorry. That was a stupid question” Zoey said.
“What are 你 doing here?” Cas wondered. “Why...

Anna materialized in Meg’s cell. Meg jumped up and crawled backwards. There was no evil bone in her host’s body that was considering on even trying to take the 天使 down.
“Don’t worry, I’m not here to hurt you. I have strict orders and when I’m done I’ll be gone” Anna said.
“Strict orders 由 who?” Meg asked.
Anna conjured her sword and Meg’s eyes widened in fear. But Anna cut her own arm and put the sword away again. She elevated to the ceiling and drew the Key of Solomon.
“Not again, come on!” Meg exclaimed. “I already promised Sam I wouldn’t get out until they’re...

The man, who spoke with a British accent, raised one eyebrow. “Let me give 你 a little hint. I saved the two of 你 from Hell”
“Oh, you’re an angel” Meg 说 dry.
“You’re welcome” the 天使 said.
“Are 你 going to kill me?” Meg wanted to know.
“No”
“Are 你 here to mock me?” Meg asked a little annoyed.
“No” the 天使 said, seeming to enjoy the situation. “Why don’t...

The 下一个 morning.
Jo woke up, because someone was banging the door.
“Mr. Allen? Open the door!” a female voice said.
Jo stumbled out of 床, 床上 and wiped her eyes. She walked to the door and opened it. There were two inspectors, a man and a woman.
“Good morning, miss. I’m inspector Roberts, this is my colleague inspector Williams” Isabel said, 展示 her badge. “We need to talk to Emmanuel Allen. We were told we could find him here”
Jo frowned and shook her head. “I don’t know anyone with that name. 你 have the wrong house”
Inspector Williams searched in his bag and conjured a picture. “Maybe this might help you?” he said. Jo’s eyes widened and she took the picture. “I know him” she admitted. “But his name’s not Emmanuel. It’s Castiel”
For a 分钟 Cas completely forgot he was an 天使 and that he could fly. 或者 maybe he wanted to be sure Dean knew he was furious. Either way, he slammed the door open and shut again and on his way outside he collided to Meg.
Meg watched him rush away and frowned. She opened the door of Dean’s room and pursed her lips.
“Well, that explains it” she said.
“Jesus, Meg, get the hell out of here!” Dean 说 angry. Jo had already put on her clothes and Dean was putting on his. “Your boyfriend just left. 你 might have missed him, but if 你 hurry 你 might catch up with him”
Meg squeezed...

At first nothing happened.
“Crowley, get down here! Before I get angry!” Sam yelled furious.
“Alright, alright, don’t lose your head” Crowley said. He appeared behind Sam and Sam quickly turned around. Crowley looked at his watch. “I give 你 two minutes. Make them count”

“Exactly where did sweet Emmanuel go?” he asked, keeping his eyes on the screen.
“I don’t know” Daphne answered scared. “Look, if 你 don’t let me go, I’ll start screaming and then my neighbors will come”
“Then I’ll just kill them” ‘Castiel’ shrugged. “Talking about neighbors…You know Meg, the slut who lived across your house? My boss has been looking for her too”
“What?” Daphne asked breathless.
“You didn’t really think it was a coincidence she moved in there, right after...

“Does that matter?” Andy asked.
“Andy’s the reason I got to babysit Alex” Shannen explained. “He introduced me to Zoey”
“Oh, I get it” Cas said. He looked at the clock. “I should go to the hospital. Zoey will begin to wonder where I am”
“Yeah, go ahead” Shannen said. “And tell Zoey not to worry about Lex. We can stay the night here,...

Cas was sitting at the 厨房 table, staring ahead. He didn’t know what to do. A part of him wanted to stay. Daphne had saved his life. She’d taken care of him when anyone else would’ve just left him at that lake.
But another part, a bigger part, wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. It was 安全 to say that his lovely wife wasn’t so lovely at all.
So, why didn’t he just go? Because Zoey had been talking to him. She told him what really happened with Martin, their brother. How Daphne felt responsible for his death and how he, Cas, reminded her of him. Because Martin had...

“Looking for cookies” Meg answered with a smirk.
“You couldn’t go to the store?” Paul asked frowning.
“No, I’m kind of broke” Meg said. “I would have to steal them. Besides, I knew it would piss off Daphne and that’s basically why I did. Mrs. Allen doesn’t like me very much, 你 see”
Paul nodded. “That wouldn’t have anything to do with the fact that you’ve been trying to get-forgive...
