ABO - Alpha/Beta/Omega verse. A 粉丝 fiction genre where characters have secondary genders, with some stereotypical personality traits and canine sexual aspects.
Angst - sad and depressive content, e.g. character deaths, reactions to break-ups, depression and pain.
AU - Alternate universe. Taking the characters from their original setting and placing them in a completely different scenario.
Author's note - a note left 由 the 粉丝 fiction writer, often at the start 或者 end of a chapter but sometimes in the middle. It can be asking for reviews, apologising for an absence/slow posting 或者 explaining a plot point.
Bashing - 写作 a disliked character in a negative way. It can include exaggerating their flaws, making other characters dislike them, making them suffer 或者 killing them.
BrOTP - Brotherly One True Pairing. A fraternal 或者 platonic relationship which is a fan's favourite, 或者 one of their favourites.
Canon - content from the original story the 粉丝 fiction is based upon.
Canon pairing - a couple 或者 pairing which exists in the original story.
Characters-read-the-books - a work which involves the canon characters 阅读 their own books. Variants can include characters viewing the films 或者 TV series. This is normally not allowed on fanfiction.net, but might be permissible if the focus is on the characters' reactions instead of quoting large passages of the original story.
Con-crit - constructive criticism. Criticism which is aimed at improving the 写作 instead of just being negative.
Crackfic - a humorous, slightly mad story which isn't mean to be taken seriously.
Crack-ship - a humorous pairing which isn't mean to be taken seriously.
Crossover - a 粉丝 fiction which combines two 或者 更多 different fandoms.
Darkfic - a story with dark themes such as violence and death.

Head-canon - content which isn't from the original but doesn't counteract with canon. Examples could include theories about a character's background, their thoughts and motives in a scene, deleted scene type content 或者 theories about what might happen to a surviving character after the story.
Het - a heterosexual male/female pairing.

Mary Sue - a label for an overly perfectly character with limited flaws, who is often annoying to read about. Marty Stu and Gary Stu are names sometimes 给 to male Mary Sues.

“And you’re telling me this, because?” Damon wondered.
“Stefan and I have a past, a present and if 你 back off and don’t pull of stunts like 你 just did, then we might have a future” Rebekah answered threatening.
“But pulling stunts is so fun” Damon replied.
“You don’t want be on my bad side, Damon” Rebekah threatened. Suddenly she gasped, her eyes bulged and her face turned dark grey.
“No” a female voice said. “But I do”
Rebekah fell down and Katherine appeared.
“You’re lying” Damon replied supercilious.

“Rachel told me” Tyler explained. “She told me Rebekah attacked you”
Veronica shook her head. “Actually it was Stefan” she said.
“Why would Stefan want to hurt you?” Tyler asked skeptic. “He doesn’t even know you”
“Neither does Rebekah” Veronica shrugged. “They know. They know that we’re going to try and take them down. We’re going to have to 移动 fast”
