It\'s been a big couple of week for music-based announcements and along with the news that One Direction and Justin Bieber will both be releasing their new albums on the same day, we\'ve now also got the highly exciting news that there\'s a shiny new Ed Sheeran single on the way.

There\'s some good and some bad news though, and while you\'ll get to hear \'Lay It All On Me\', which he\'s done with Rudimental, THIS FRIDAY, Ed\'s also revealed that it\'s the last bit of music he\'ll be releasing for a \'very long time\'.

*Cue the teeny tiny violins at the prospect of a life without new Ed music in your ears for the next year*

To be fair to Edward, what with sophomore album

having been up at the top of the charts pretty consistently since it was released over a year ago and having toured pretty much every corner of the globe during that time, it\'s no surprise to hear that he fancies a bit of a rest before the third record.

The gap between the first and second albums was pretty lengthy too, but worked pretty well in Ed\'s favour as there was such a hype for his comeback by the time it happened. Let\'s be honest, we all know what the Emeli Sande effect did to her career by the end of Olympic year.

STILL, at least we\'ve got a little something to remember Eddy by and he\'s going out with a bang, releasing a new collaboration with Rudimental, who he also worked on the single version of \'Bloodstream\' with.

We\'re guessing that their presence means it\'s going to be an up-tempo, dancey sort of banger so we\'re pretty excited to get to wrap our earlobes and canals around it.

Taking to the twittersphere to announce the track, Eduardo said: "Got a brand new single coming out friday, with @RudimentalUk, called Lay It All On Me. Watch out for it."
