Why was mulan picked? She's like, one of the BEST role models!?!?

I personally think the best role model is Pocahontas. Though I would not be upset if Mulan won. Tiana ...I think she focuses too much on hard work then having a good time. And I think having a good time is important. She's still a good role model, just not as good as the others I mentioned, I think.

she pretty much says don't listen to your parents, and then I'd pick aurora, "hey lets touch that sharp glowing thingy!"

Wow, Mulan is one of the best role models IMO. I pick Jasmine for this round because she was pretty spoiled and ungrateful. She didn't have a very good attitude.

I don't have much sympathy for PRINCESSES who hate their lives.

I personally think Belle is the best role model. Call it Cliche but i really think she is. She looks into someones heart and doesnt care what they look like, which is one of the best attributes in someone, and i think EVERYONE should be like that whether it be for racism or not. I know Pocahontas is the same aswell but she jumps off cliffs, whereas Belle doesnt lol

^ I agree. I hope that either Belle, Pocahontas, or Mulan wins this because I think that they are the best role models out of the princesses.

Jasmine doesn't seem like a good role model to me because she spent a lot of her movie whining about how hard it is being a princess. Meanwhile, poor Aladdin had to steal just so he could eat. She wasn't grateful with what she had.

My vote for best goes to Belle or Pocahontas.

Both responsible and willing to look beneath what they see on the outside.

^ Completely agree with the ordering of that list! Some people say that Cinderella isn't a good role model because she just let her stepmother and stepsisters treat her badly. However, I think she's still a good role model because she treated her stepmother and stepsisters with kindness, no matter how nasty they were to her. More importantly, she never complained about her situation, and tried to stay positive and make the best of things, all while working her a** off. I think that Belle, Pocahontas, and Mulan are better role models than Cinderella, but I still say that she is a good role model.

People say she does nothing to better her situation...What the hell is she supposed to do? Runaway and be homeless? Things were different back then, you depended on your family.

There was nothing she could do but live her life with a positive attitude which she did.

Think of what her life was like and she was still happy.

And Ariel complains cause she wants to live on land? And Jasmine doesn't want to live in a palace?

^ Exactly! She wouldn't have a lot of options, she had no nowhere to go. At least she tried to make the best of things, and didn't bitch and complain.

I think that Aurora is also a better role model than Jasmine, although she's not as good as some of the others. She is kind and gracious. She helped her guardians with the housework, without complaint (wiping windows, etc). She didn't have a bad outlook on life, or a whiny attitude. She cried when she found out that she was a princess, yes, but that is only because she thought that meant that she couldn't be with the one that she loved.

I can't believe that Mulan has any votes. What makes her a bad role model? I'm just curious because I've always thought that she was one of the best.

The only reason I don't think Mulan is as good as Belle or Pocahontas is because what she did was brave a selfless to be sure, but what the others did was also brave a selfless AND they have other things to add to that.

Like looking below the surface of someone and following your heart....I just think they have more good qualities. Does that make sense?

Granted, the Beast was meaner, but Belle never took the time to look below the surface of Gaston (not that there was any good under there, but she didn't know that). I just think Pocahontas is the best role model. Belle is up there though.

Yes, livelydebate, that makes sense to me. =) Mulan was brave, but Belle and Pocahontas were also brave and they had other good qualities too. I don't think Mulan is necessarily the *absolute* best role model, but she's pretty high up there IMO, which is why I am surprised that she has any votes so soon in this pick.

Well considering he was a monster holding her sick father in a dungeon and then proceded to hold her prisoner for life and throw her father out without so much as a goodbye...what's she supossed to do? "Oh it's alright, I'm sure there's good in you somewhere. We'll just wait and see"

Point is, she DID end up falling for him, and the fact that it took her a little while to get over all that, should not be held against her.

And neither should the Gaston thing. I'm sure she lived in that village for a long time and knew exactly how he was. Being a good person doesn't mean you should turn a blind eye to any and all wrong doing. Can you blame her for not wanting to marry him?!

I was joking. Just like you were doing in the other topic about Hottest Guys ;) But anyway, I just think Belle is kind of a better role model, thats just my opinion. I used the "cliff" thing as a joke as a kid could easily just go and jump off a cliff thinking "woo im pocahontas!" (im joking..) but i did hear a story once that a little kid who aspired to be Ariel actually nearly drowned from trying to be her. just saying. what do you mean by "sorry i DONT think Belle is the best.." - you act as if im gonna bash you for your opinion :S

I TOTALLY agree with all of the comments about Cinderella up there... I've thought that for a long time... people say "Why didn't she do anything?" and I think "What was she supposed to do?" She didn't have money, didn't have connections... she was just supposed to leave and hope she didn't end up homeless?
