I kind of like the idea of this actually. Growing up Maleficent was one of my favourite villains. Tim Burton's approach to film making is interesting sometimes (I like some of his work, but wouldn't generally call myself a big fan), and would probably fit Maleficent well, and the fact that it's focusing on her, and live action, would mean it has less chance of spoiling memories of the original because it's not just a remake.

But as I liked Maleficent it would be a shame if the movie messed up her character. At the moment I'm cautiously hoping it's true, but if it never happens or I don't enjoy the movie once it comes out it probably wouldn't bother me either.

I'm not a huge fan of either Burton or Sleeping Beauty, but this actually does sound like a cool idea.

hmm i dont really know.. i dont really want him to because i feel that if he does then he'll think "Oh, Alice in Wonderland and Sleeping Beauty were big hits, lets do _____ now" if you know what i mean? I think he'll carry on remaking Disney movies like Beauty and the Beast, Snow White etc.. those 2 would be so freaky with Tim Burton lol

I LOVE Maleficent and like some of Tim Burton's stuff so id think itd be cool except they should keep it animated like the sleeping beauty movie. i think it'd be weird as live action...like not natural lol

I'd LOVE it if this was true! Maleficent has always been my favorite Disney villain, and I love Tim Burton.

I'm tired of Tim Burton coping out half the time and remaking already done movies. His original movies have been more successful anyway.

I'll tell you how I feel!! Tim Burton can go hurt himself....severely! If this were true you'd know exactly what to expect; Johnny Depp and Helena Bohem Carter awkwardly miscast, some brunette actress with her hair bleached blond, and that sketchy textbook Tim Burton film style because that's all his films are now. Self-indulgent remakes saying "well this is how 'I' would have done it"

His new Alice in Wonderland has royally ticked me off because it looks like he TOTALLY stole the concept from American McGee's Alice EA game (if you don't know what I'm talking about LOOK IT UP!!! It Rocks)

Planet of the Apes! anyone? what the hell was that?! YOU CAN'T JUST REMAKE ONE FILM OUT OF A SERIES OF FIVE!!! We're all going "why the hell is Lincoln an ape?" and you think "oh I'll just pop in the 1970 sequel Beneath Planet of the Apes and find out" NOPE. it was like the biggest "f*ck y'all" in cinema.

*sigh* Sweeny Todd. I remember thinking, "Oh if anyone could handle this play it would be Burton" so I was excited when I went to see it....and then.... Johnny Depp happened. Don't get me wrong, he's a brilliant actor and did great with what he was given. He just wasn't right for the role. Neither was Helena Carter. I mean Mrs. Lovetts was originated by Angela Lansbury for crying out loud. The affects were sloppy and unnecessarily graphic. And the cast in general was inconsistent with who could act and who could sing.

Corpse Bride...was just a film banking off the success of Nightmare before Christmas.

And for the love of God, Sleeping Beauty was Disney's crowning achievement in animation! If Tim Burton DID do HIS version, you can't possibly convince me that it wouldn't be more about HIM and in any way show an ounce of respect to all those thousands of people it took to literally hand-draw, hand-paint, and photograph every single frame of that film.

I feel bad in ranting like this because Burtons early work was BRILLIANT! I honestly think Nightmare Before Christmas is one of the greatest animated films and is culturly significant. His Batman movies are still my favorite and films like BeatleJuice and Scissorhands were amazing at the time. Now, his films just seem sooooo gosh darn predictable and frankly egoistic.

that's sound such a great idea !!! I've always think tim burton could make great adpatations of disney fairytales ( even though i fought more about Beauty and the Beast than Sleeping Beauty) .

I agree alafastanzio. His more recent works have been terrible- Corpse Bride was a lie, it looked like it was going to be as good as Nightmare before christmas (i admit, i was fooled by the animation), but it was terrible and boring. And I'm really tired of Tim Burton remaking other people's stuff. Why can't he just create his own? Granted,Disney doesn't do most of their own stuff, but they get it out of books. But Tim Burton remaking other people's movies? This I don't like.

Meh. I prefer Burton's earlier films to his more recent stuff. And he's already doing Alice in Wonderland (that I can understand a bit more - that story is a bit more up-his-ally), why does he need to do Sleeping Beauty? He should do more original material, like his earlier stuff.

Plus, I'd be more interested if it were animated. Just saying. Maleficent I think is like the ultimate animated villainess - I don't know what I think of portraying her live action.

Sleeping Beauty IS my favorite movie and I love Maleficent. I just don't trust Burton especially with his latest movies. I guess I will have to hear more about it before I make up my mind, but right now it's a No.
