After long thought between Belle and Merida (And a few others princesses) I concluded Belle is the better choice for pride. Merida puts herself first, yes, in response to being forced to marry and is stubborn in her views. However; she never looks down on anyone.
Belle on the other hand, calls her town and the people in it provincial (not that she's done anything that noteworthy to put her above the others) and when an 8ft monster is standing outside her door threatening to bang it down who could definitely rip her to bits in a matter of seconds, she is so prideful she won't join him despise the imminent threat to her life. She poopoos people's lives and careers in the town and wants her life to change without any imposition on herself.
Plus "Can you imagine, he asked ME to marry him?!"--she thinks pretty highly of herself.

I feel like she's awfully full of herself. All uppity about all the town's folk not reading and the beast being rude, when she ventured into the west wing on her own accord...

I don't know, maybe Tiana? she takes a lot of pride in working hard unnecessarily.

I mean what does she even do for a living?! Does she bake bread? Is she raising kids? People are asking eachother how they're days are going and how their families are and she's all "ugh there must be more than THIS."

How is she in any way contributing to the community which she is criticizing?

Pride is the thing about Belle that I can't stand about her. She thinks she's so great. Puleeze. Honestly, Belle IS the reason I really don't enjoy watching Disney's version of the fairytale, and is what places this Disney movie out of my top twenty movies.

Everything that MissCinico said about Belle is exactly what I think. I totally blame Belle for the west wing fallout, and the wolf attack.

For sure, she thinks that she's way better than peoples in her village.

Or Belle.

Belle is pretty humble throughout the whole movie. She asks her dad if he thinks she's odd. She was only snarky to Gaston, no one else. Mulan cares about pride and honor a lot, tries to prove herself, and then becomes humbled at the end of the movie. I don't see it as a bad thing at all.

Belle certainly has her pride up there in the cloud. She musically insulting her town's people.

CoTW makes her look pretty prideful. Also Belle.
