I'd know that my kingdom would need me and I'd want to be there for them, but I could never marry someone if I didn't love them. My choice would probably be very selfish but I honestly wouldn't be able to say yes.

Well if her kingdom really had needed this, such as to prevent a war or stop some unsuitable person gaining power (like Jafar tried, but apparently he was lying when he said princess has to marry the visir if she has not married someone else). But I do not feel the situation was so dire and the sultans argument for marriage was that Jasmine should have somebody to care of her after he died.
