I'm kinda torn. I like how Cinderella forgives Anastasia as it shows how willing she is to forgive, but I also think that considering how horrible Anastasia treated Cinderella beforehand, I think Cinderella let Anastasia off a little too easily.
I like how Cinderella doesn't hold grudges. And is so kind hearted that she can easily forgive, but movie wise I don't think so, I rather have Anastasia stay a villain, because personally I don't think Anastasia or any of the step family deserves forgiveness.
I don't get the big deal about Cinderella forgiving Anastasia like that. I mean, it would be VERY out of character for Cinderella not to forgive someone. She isn't really a realistic and relatable character but more of a character who was made to be a role model that we all should be like. After all, it was because of Cinderella's good heart and kindness (along with hard work) that got her a happy ending because she was always kind to others. She was always kind to the mice, who made her dress and helped her get out of her locked room because of her kindness towards them. I think the Fairy Godmother is a way of showing how God rewards those who work hard and are kind. Sure, people who work hard and are good hearted will still suffer, which Cinderella did, but are still rewarded in the end.
So it would really be out of character for Cinderella not to forgive Anastasia in either of the movies. In the third movie Anastasia just wants someone to love her but in the end decides not to marry the Prince because she knows he loves Cinderella and not her. In the second movie there is actually a lot of similarities between her and Cinderella.
1.Anastasia wants to find love and live a happy life like Cinderella, which she finds with the Baker, but her mother forbids it because she thinks he's beneath her. It's similar to how Cinderella was kept from the ball because Lady Tremaine saw Cinderella as beneath them and the Prince. Because of Lady Tremaine's prejudice, she tries to keep both Cinderella and Anastasia away from their happy ending because it will benefit her by having her daughters move up to a higher class.
2.When Anastasia crashes into the Baker's shop, her dress is ripped and ruined, which causes her to run away crying. That's similar to how Cinderella's dress was ruined and she ran away crying.
3.Anastasia thinks when she sees the Baker with a pretty young girl that it means he doesn't love her and that she's not meant to have a happy ending, which causes her to run away crying. In contrast, Cinderella had hope of her happy ending (much like Anastasia did), but it's all taken away when Lady Tremaine locks her up in her room, crushing her hope of a happily ever after and causing her to cry.
4.Cinderella had a Fairy Godmother to make her look beautiful after her dress was ruined. Anastasia had Cinderella to help give her a make-over after her dress was ruined and made her look beautiful.
So Cinderella acted as Anastasia's Fairy Godmother because she believes everyone deserves happiness and love like her.
