Obviously. I love him, poor guy.

He's pretty universally loathed among Disney fans.

I personally think some of the hate is unwarranted, like the criticism that he would have married any girl that fit the shoe when the film makes it clear that was a deliberate misconstruction of his words by his father.

Duke: "The Prince says he will not rest until he finds the girl who fits this slipper." In other words, what he means is the girl who OWNS the slipper. The King, who is impatient for his son to get married and start having kids ASAP, immediately decides the first girl to fit the slipper will be his bride. "He's given his word, and we'll hold him to it!"

There's also the criticism that the Prince doesn't go with the Duke to find his love, when that a) fixes the plot hole of the original prince going around trying the shoe on random girls without, you know, trying to recognize his supposed love by sight, and b) it's pretty clear the King forced the Duke to sneak out in the middle of the night so the Prince wouldn't slow the search by actually trying to find the right girl. (Again, the king doesn't care WHO his son marries, he just wants to get him hitched ASAP, and so wants him to marry the first girl that fits the slipper.)

Anyway, I think a lot of the hate against him is unjustified, but I'm not surprised he's at the absolute bottom.
