faya27 I guess Disney doesn't give their heroes/heroines green eyes because green means envy/jealously. That is why Lady Tremaine and the Evil Queen have green eyes. Rapunzel has green eyes due to her being named from a specific lettuce, rapunzel. Peter Pan, Robin Hood, and Pacha wear green to show that they are "earthy type" people. Esmeralda has emerald eyes, hence her name Esmeralda. (In the book, it was b/c of the emerald pendant she wore).

DreamyGal I have always felt a little hurt because none of the princesses had green eyes, like me. I always wanted to have blue eyes as a child. But now, I love my green eyes. I have big eyes anyways, so the green really stands out, especially if I wear a certain shade of eye shadow. But now, we have the lovely Rapunzel, who has big green eyes, and short brown hair like myself! So I feel MUCH better now, lol.

little_mercat I have noticed this before and wondered why there weren't any with green eyes. I think it is more coincidential as opposed to Disney actually having something against green eyes. Still, it's unfair. Rapunzel has green eyes now though. I wish they would make a anther blonde princess though ( Rapunzel's hair turning brown kind of hurt my feelings to be honest...what does everyone have against blondes?)

Pink_Love I dont care much but I would love to see more light brown hair. i dont really consider Black hair as brown so more princesses with brown hair please. && Ariel has red hair but I would love for a princess to have orange hair because my sister has orange hair though she is a redhead. her hair has more orange than anything. && a lil blonde sometimes. it is very pretty. i dont care about eye color. also someone above said Rapunzels blonde hair was a curse. but i consider it more as a gift. she got to live because of the gift or curse && so did her mom && she has amazing powers. i was a bit more upset that they acted like her hair becoming brown && short was a horrible thing. she was beautiful either way but wtever.

arielfanatic @Pink_Love Yeah But as a former blonde the movie Tangled seemed like a bit deragatory towards blondes. It seemed like her long blonde hair was indeed a curse.. Personally I think Disney should have just kept her hair the color it was .. Cuz your right if you look at it another way it can be viewed as deragatory toward brunettes when they acted like her hair turning brown was a bad thing .. personally I think they should just have left her hair color the same ... But that's just my opinion.. and Yes she was beautiful either way .. =]

codimonzingo There is a new Disney princess to make an appearance this year. The movie is called Brave, and the princess is name Merida, and is Scottish, with red/orange hair, and GREEN EYES! :) Just thought you would like to know that

disneylyric Green eyes are a very uncommon gene-blue may be more recessive, especially true blue, but green is the hardest to get, since it requires two specific brown genes. That's why there aren't a lot of green-eyed characters.

skell4h I think this post is pretty ridiculous, personally. 1. Esmeralda and Rapunzel have green eyes 2. Green eyes are quite uncommon (although they're quite beautiful in my opinion) 3. Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan and Tiana have brown eyes because it is extremely, extremely rare for someone who's not white to have green (or blue) eyes Kida has blue eyes because she's Atlantean, which isn't a real race and Esmeralda has green eyes because green eyes symbolized magic in her time period (she had dark brown eyes in the book) rather than being bothered that there aren't enough characters with green eyes, there's a lack of racial diversity in Disney instead of another (likely white) princess with green eyes, I'd like to see a non-white princess

Also, as I mentioned above, this article is probably more than 3 years old now and was way before Rapunzel's time. And I am aware of Esmeralda having green eyes, as I have a large picture of her featured in the article itself.

newday37 skell4h there are much more diversity in races on the princesses then in their eye color. s you should not complain about that. when this list was posted the only with green eyes was esmeralda. in races other then white you got: tiana, mulan, jasmin, esmeralda, and pocahontas. i was so happy when rapunzel came. since i got blond hair and green eyes. now we need a redhead or brunette with green eyes:) after that they can do what they want :) give us a albino with red eyes if they want. could be fun !

sunnyfields I am glad that my favorite princess, Rapunzel, shares my green eye color, but there really needs to be more green eyed characters. I know that there was a discrimination in history with people thinking that green eyed people were witches, so that might be why it took so long and why Esmeralda, who was considered a witch by Frollo, had green eyes in addition to her name meaning emerald. I also really want more characters to have brown hair. There is only one princess, Belle, who has brown hair the entire movie and Rapunzel only has it briefly at the end and is still seen in toys and in the Disney parks with blonde hair.

aMeLiE2005 Rapunzel and Esmeralda are the only princesses that I know with green eyes and I share the eye color with them. In my opinion green is the most beautiful eye color, and I have no clue why Disney uses it for only this few princesses. They did use it very beautiful on Rapunzel tho. I think that Disney should use the green eye color way more often than they do now, it's just a shame they leave this out of many of the movies. I'm a hardcore Disney fan - I like Tangled the most - and I think that Disney kinda leaves us green fellas out. Who agrees?

Vizsla4 Green is the least common eye color, so it kind of makes sense that there would be fewer green-eyed characters.
