Keeping along with my Halloween/Autumn-themed articles, I wanted to make a "DP 最喜爱的 Scary Movie" post! I 爱情 to binge watch scary 电影院 in the 月 of October; I suppose it's my way of celebrating the 万圣节前夕 holiday since I don't do trick-or-treating 或者 anything like that. I have heard plenty of complaints about children being on this site so for that reason I will only be providing films with a rating of "PG" 或者 "PG-13" so that it is all content-friendly. (I even provided the rankings for each film along with the 年 since there was no "PG-13" rating pre 1984 [coincidentally!].)
Snow White: When a Stranger Calls (2006) [PG-13]: I picked this one for Snow White because it seems to me like Snow White is so motherly and caring that she could never abandon children, especially in danger. I think this would be a very scary movie and situation to her. She might feel helpless to help the children on one hand but also she will feel obligated to do what she can to keep them safe.
Cinderella: Darkness Falls (2000) [PG-13]: I picked this one for 灰姑娘 because she got help from a fairy godmother so the idea that the miraculous helper would actually be the villain, I think, would be very frightening to Cinderella. I also think 灰姑娘 would find the concept of taking a friendly, positive childish image and turning it into a creepy, frightening image to be brilliantly scary.
Aurora: The Witches (1990) [PG]: Evil female witches who stalk on children? I think this one is right up Aurora's alley and would definitely remind her of Maleficent. I think she would find all of the witches motives and actions to be very frightening and she could relate to the horror that some of the kids in the film go through. I think she would also appreciate that the main child's goodness prevails.
Ariel: Jaws (1975) [PG]: At the risk of being obvious and cliché, no one would understand the real fear of sharks the way Ariel would since she's actually experienced them up close. I think she might find it very frightening that both 《美人鱼》 and humans are equally afraid of sharks. She's definitely safer on land but even the "landies" fear the sharks.
Belle: The Twilight Zone Movie (1983) [PG-13]: Since Belle is a reader and loves 阅读 to escape, I think she would really 爱情 the 写作 of the Twilight Zone since the scripts are taken from short stories 由 very talented authors. I also think she'd appreciate the little vignette style that would remind her of short stories 或者 fables.
Jasmine: The Others (2000) [PG-13]: Since 茉莉, 茉莉花 spent her whole life feeling trapped and not able to explore and socialize the way she wanted to, I think she would find this story absolutely horrific. Particularly, 茉莉, 茉莉花 would find the ending to be very frightening. To find out that 你 were 更多 trapped than 你 even thought would possibly be the worst thing 茉莉, 茉莉花 could imagine.
Pocahontas: The Mothman Prophecies (2000) [PG-13]: Why? Because it is a creature of nature[?] providing a sign of bad things to come. Since Pocahontas loves to look for the meaning behind things and this is based on an unexplainable true story, I think she would find this particularly spooky.
Mulan: Stephen King's IT (1990) [PG-13]: I don't know why, but I get the sense that 花木兰 would find clowns to be creepy. (Then again don't a lot of people?) What I mean to say is, I think 花木兰 would find clowns to be especially creepy. Perhaps because of their hiding who they are behind all of the make up and costume which she doesn't agree with as shown in her song "Reflection". Anyways, this is technically a TV-Series and not a movie but it's still incredibly frightening and very well done nonetheless. (Plus I always thought it was a movie as a child since that's the only way I ever saw it.)
Tiana: The Skeleton Key (2005) [PG-13]: Much like in Ariel's case, I think Tiana would find this extra frightening because of her personal relation. I think she would find the voodoo element to be quite scary and realistic. Especially since the concept here is believing in it makes 你 subject to it and she certainly believes in it already as she's seen it's power.
Rapunzel: Watcher In The Woods (1980) [PG]: A girl who gets 迷失 in the woods and is never seen from 或者 heard from again? I think this sums up all of the fears Rapunzel had trying to leave her tower. Woods, ghosts, spirits, séances, etc. This might even be a movie Mother Gothel would 显示 her as a young girl to keep her from ever leaving the tower.
Merida: Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) [PG]: Since Merida is so passionate about sticking to her beliefs and who she is, I think she would find the concept of "You are 你 but not really you" to be the most frightening of all of the DPs. Merida is far from a conformist so she would not want her body taken over and being forced to convert to a lifestyle she doesn't agree with.
Elsa: Something Wicked This Way Comes (1983) [PG]: The struggle between good and evil is something Elsa heavily identifies with in relation to her powers. I think she would really appreciate that good/evil battle element a lot. Since it is the Carnival coming to town that is bringing the "wicked", I think Elsa would also like the symbolism of something that seems fun might not always be.
Anna: The Conjuring (2014) [PG-13]: For some reason, Anna strikes me as the type who would just 爱情 ghost stories! I think she would appreciate the family values in this film as well as the scarier elements. I also think she would like the character of the couple who try to help everyone face the spirits since she tries to help others face their demons as well.
