Merida's condition gradually worsened. The cut on her leg was badly festered, she was still unconscious, her breathing was rapidly slowing down, and she spiked a fever. Mulan, Shang, Pocahontas, and John were waiting anxiously outside Kekata's tent. It wasn't long before Chief Powhatan joined them. "How is the girl?" he asked. "Not so good father." Pocahontas answered sadly. "In times like this, we must be strong for her." Powhatan replied. 花木兰 had tears welling up in her eyes.

"Excuse me for a moment." she said. She went to Powhatan's teepee and began to cry. She couldn't stand the devastation that was occurring. Chief Powhatan entered the teepee. "I know how 你 are feeling, my child." he said. 花木兰 wiped her tears as she turned towards his direction. "We must be strong for Rebel." Powhatan stated. "Rebel?" 花木兰 questioned. Powhatan smiled. Rebel was Powhatan's nickname for Merida.

"Rebel has been a loyal friend to 你 and my daughter. And right now, she needs us. This is the time we come together and give each other strength." Powhatan 说 wisely. "It's breaking my heart! I just hate seeing her like that!" 花木兰 replied as she began to cry again. "Now child, please don't doubt yourself. 你 want to hear MY confession? I think she'll pull through." Powhatan comforted. "You think so?" 花木兰 asked. "I know so." Powhatan answered. 花木兰 took her time to regain herself. "I think 你 should know this." she said.

"What might that be?" Chief Powhatan asked. "I'm pregnant." 花木兰 confessed. "Why that's joyful!" Powhatan replied joyfully. "Pocahontas and John already know. Shang and Merida already know also." 花木兰 said. "Take afew 更多 moments to calm yourself, child." Powhatan advised. 花木兰 took a deep breath before heading out. Chief Powhatan followed close by.

Once back 由 Kekata's tent, the gang was met 由 the man himself. "I have disturbing news. The girl is getting weaker, and her blood pressure is dropping." he sadly updated. 花木兰 and Pocahontas hugged Chief Powhatan. Meanwhile, John was trying his best to comfort Shang. "Breathe. Your body won't be able to handle severe stress." John advised. "I already 迷失 someone dear. I can't lose HER too." Shang replied about Merida and his dad. "Just pray. Pray and I guarantee 你 that your prayer will get answered." John said. Shang closed his eyes.

花木兰 and Pocahontas decided to stay with the 婴儿 when it got late. "Thanks for watching our boys, Nakoma." 花木兰 thanked. "Any friend of Pocahontas is a friend of mine." Nakoma replied. Pocahontas went up to her other friend and hugged her. "I hope Merida gets better." she whispered. "I do too." Pocahontas replied. As soon as Nakoma left, Pocahontas and 花木兰 got the 婴儿 to sleep.

(A/N: In case you're wondering, Merida has sepsis. Sepsis is also known as Septic Shock, and if it was uncommon/unheard of back then, I'm trying to make it sound that way just in case.)
