disneygirl7 Actually, Aurora lives in England, in an interview Mary Costa said Walt Disney asked her to speak in a more English accented voice instead of her normal voice. Also, I'm not sure about this because I don't exactly have proof, but supposing ten years passed between the prologue and the actual story, the time setting for TPATF would be 1922 since in the prologue we see a man holding a newspaper that says the year was 1912. Of course, more or less than 10 years could have passed, but this is IF 10 years have passed. Wikipedia isn't always reliable, you know.

jainabieber7 I'm pretty sure Aurora is French...Disney never fails with British accents and I'm sure it would be more noteworthy and obvious like Alice and Wendy. Disney likes to make it known that they're in Britain with accents. Also Aurora's meet & greet at EPCOT in Walt Disney World Florida is held within the country of France. I'm not sure if you're familiar with EPCOT but there are different sections of the park dedicated to certain countries and Aurora and Belle (who is clearly French) are met in France. Alice and Mary Poppins are met in the U.K. area, who are two obviously British Disney characters.

Also, I just watched Sleeping Beauty today and noticed several of the characters have a British accent, but it could just be the cast... but she's either French or British for sure.

JefefrsonFan99 Though the movie never said which nation it took place, I found a lot of reasons why Aurora may be set in France (though the live action is Scotland in the island of Britain) rather than Germany or Great Britain is because Art Director Eyvind Earle was inspired by the French medieval manuscript by the Limbourg Bros while directing the background animation. We also hear French words like 'troubador' and 'en garde' In addition to being based off of many French castles and the one in Germany, as well as being French and German for the architectures, we also hear George Bruns' version of the French royal anthem, also adapted by Tchaikovsky. Orginally Greek and Latin names respectively, Aurora (Aurore), Fauna (French for Fawn and faunette), and Stefan (Stephene) are French words. So it can't take be set in Britain because they have TOO MUCH films set in that nation, as it was based on a French fairy tale (borrowing some highlights from the Brothers Grimm) and a Russian ballet.
