We conceive of racism as a set of institutional conditions of group inequality and an ideology of racial domination, in which the latter is characterized 由 a set of beliefs holding that the subordinate racial group is biologically 或者 culturally inferior to the dominant racial group. These beliefs, in turn, are deployed to prescribe and legitimize society's discriminatory treatment of the subordinate group and to justify their lower status. link

The common definition of racism, and the one used 由 people who believe in reverse racism, is just "the belief that one race of people is better than another." Sure, that's the definition that comes up when 你 谷歌 the term, but it's actually just the definition of racial prejudice. It's not the definition of racism used in scholarly discussion, 或者 political debates, 或者 由 activists. The italicized definition at the 最佳, 返回页首 is an example of a definition that's actually used, that's actually correct.

Why?

Because racism isn't just about being mean to someone because of their race. It isn't just saying "I don't like 你 because you're _____."

Racism is the social and legal systems that put nonwhite races beneath whites. Nonwhites are demonized, fetishized, and unfairly discriminated against within bounds of the law.

I could 列表 examples until my mouth ran dry: the wage gap between whites and nonwhites; the government taking down the Black 豹, 黑豹 Party because black power was a threat but letting the KKK thrive because white power is not; Asian women are fetishized while Asian men are seen as lesser than white men; American Indians were pushed out of their own land because they were nonwhite and seen as "savage" and stereotypes of their "primitiveness" continue today; in the 1960s and 1970s Mexican women were routinely sterilized 由 white doctors without their knowledge because their presence and reproduction was "problematic", and Mexicans are still scapegoated as the cause of population problems, crime, etc.; and the 列表 goes on. Discounting Italians and Irish, who used to be considered nonwhite, none of this has ever happened to whites. Whites, instead, are the ones who have always held power.

Racism is where the beauty standard is whiteness. Racism is where until very recently all 芭比娃娃 玩偶 were white. Racism is where ads and 模特 are predominately white. Racism is where natural black hair is deemed unattractive and unruly 或者 dirty because white hair is the norm. Racism is where light-skinned nonwhites are seen as 更多 beautiful than dark-skinned nonwhites. Racism is where "passing" as white is positive.

Racism is where a nonwhite person cannot be a major character in a 电视 显示 或者 movie without being a trope - an angry Latina, a fat sassy black friend, a tiger mom, an old wise Native American etc. Racism is where nonwhites are not viewed as individuals.

Racism is nonwhite parents giving their children white names so they are accepted into society, 或者 so they can actually get hired when they look for work. Racism is the children of immigrants being embarrassed 由 their parents for being nonwhite 或者 not speaking English. Racism is black children fearing for their lives, 或者 the lives of their parents and loved ones, because the police only see color. Racism is the culture that tells young children that they are not as good as white people. Racism is the culture that doesn't give them representation in the media.

Racism is where everything a nonwhite person does is representative of their entire race. This is what creates stereotypes. Some black people steal, so all black people are thieves. Some black people do drugs, so all black people are addicts.

This is racism because the same thing doesn't happen to white people. How many young single white men have shot up schools 或者 streets 或者 movie theaters? And have 你 ever seen race blamed for their actions? Have 你 ever even seen these men vilified 由 the media to the same extent as black people? Have 你 seen police racially 个人资料 white men?

After Michael Brown was murdered, much of the mainstream media sought to demonize him, the victim. He was stealing cigarillos so he deserved to be killed. And of course he fought back - he's black, and blacks are violent. But Michael Brown was a victim. Theft of a $3 product does not warrant a death sentence. Darren Wilson was not even indicted, and this was not even an isolated incident. In the murder of black people 由 white police, the white police are never questioned. They end up rich; blacks end up dead.

When the people protest? Tanks were sent to Ferguson. Police beat and used tear gas on unarmed protestors. This is exactly what happened in the 1950s and whites who recognize that as wrong are silent now.

Racism is where valid nonwhite anger is "proof" of their "natural predisposition towards violence." Racism is where protests against inequality are viewed as disruptive. Racism is where people fighting for their very right to exist in peace are invalidated.

To point out that this only happens to nonwhites, let's again look at the KKK. The KKK is making a comeback, but none of their actions are stopped 由 the police 或者 the federal government. They are not listed as a terrorist organization despite their violent history. Their current actions, which include burning down black churches, are ignored 由 authorities. They are not investigated 或者 arrested. They are allowed to fly the Confederate flag as their logo because it's "heritage" and "free speech." However, even if the flag was once just a symbol of the south (though the currently used flag wasn't even the actual Confederate flag), it's become a symbol of racism; note that people who are not racist do not fly that flag because they understand it's implications. "The Germans banned the Nazi flag because they are ashamed of their history. We are not."

This? All of this? This is racism. Racism is white privilege.

That means that no, reverse racism doesn't exist. Sure, some nonwhites hate whites, but that doesn't mean there's an entire social and legal system supporting their hatred. Whites still hold power in the United States and worldwide. Whites still uphold the institutions and structures that perpetuate racism.

In fact, believing in reverse racism is part of racism. Believing in reverse racism is completely failing to see the legitimacy of nonwhite struggles. Believing in reverse racism is wanting to maintain superiority because people fighting for equal rights threatens you.

Racism is when whites don't think racism is a problem.

Racism is being belittled for being angry and speaking out.

Racism is not having freedom of speech, 或者 the right to free assembly.

Racism is when 安全 spaces are infiltrated 由 racists.

Racism is when nonwhites get blamed for the aggressions of racists.

Racism is when people are murdered for the color of their skin.

"Racism is when there is death count just for existing."

Should projects involving eminent domain require citizen approval?

No, projects involving eminent domain should NOT require citizen approval.

Let me first state that eminent domain is not a nice rule. I understand that people would want a say in that.

However, that law is there to do things for the public good. People hardly think about the public good when it is about their own property.

Allowing some form of citizen approval would slow down the governments plans, which cost money that the citizens pay. A government should be able to work as efficient as possible with the laws that are in place.
