Its too early to know that, especially since Delena havent even happened yet. Damons feelings for Elena arent just about lust. Its been said by the writers & actors for this to be a fact. He is attracted to her, but not just cuz of her looks. She has been part of the reason he is having an existential crisis & he rediscovering his humanity. He has gotten surprised/frustrated/amused by her stubborn/fiery streak. (Examples: he not doing anything to her when she had the guts to slap him while he still was in his careless state, her getting along with him while in Georgia, & when she kept refusing to go back home with him in The Sacrifice.) Its all about the buildup & IMO DE have had that & havent even kissed yet while SE got together in only 2 episodes, broke up in the sixth, & got back together admitting their love & making love for the first time in the 10th.
