For those who like the basic vampire romance dynamic in Twilight but don’t necessarily like its execution, I highly recommend the Swedish vampire film Let the Right One In. I just rented this a few days 以前 and fell in 爱情 with it. I think it’s one of my 最佳, 返回页首 films of all time. It has many elements that are similar to Twilight in terms of vampire romance, but it treats the subject much 更多 seriously and is a bit truer to the vampire characteristics traditional to the last fifty years of movie-making.

It’s about a boy named Oskar who’s bullied at school and is in a pretty bad place. He carries a 刀 around and dreams of being able to kill his tormentors. He falls in 爱情 with a reserved girl named Eli, who secretly kills people to survive off their blood. The violent nature of the characters is never downplayed. In some ways, Eli exists as an embodiment of Oskar’s own dark side. A theme of the movie is that everyone can be antagonistic, but Eli can actually claim the moral high ground because she only kills to live and can feel bad afterward.

For Twilight, I know there’s some criticism of Bella and Edward’s relationship because Edward is over a century old, and he’s called a pedophile for it. In Twilight, this is never really addressed. Edward is noted to be old, but he acts like a 17-year-old boy enough that he might as well be one. In Let the Right One In, the subject is actually touched on a bit. The actress manages to play the Eli character in a very mature way, so it’s easy to imagine that this is an old woman in the body of a 12-year-old. “I’m 12… 更多 或者 less.” There’s even a point where Oskar is 接吻 Eli and there’s a brief flash where he’s 接吻 an old woman. The film acknowledges that it’s a bit twisted, though it kind of reminds me of Harold and Maude.

The romance between the two characters doesn’t have the same sort of contrived feel as in Twilight. Oskar and Eli actually spend time together and their friendship seems 更多 real. For one thing, it’s not a sex fantasy. The two are physically 12 and aren’t really interested in sex. Their romance is on the level of a childhood crush, and it seems sweeter than the full-on lust of Bella and Edward.

Because the subject is treated seriously, I end up caring about it more. There’s the same element of the vampire wanting to eat the human but resisting it because of love, but it feels 更多 valuable in this case partially because the vampire is a killer. All of the violent aspects of vampirism are there and not shied away from. This is one of the best vampire films ever, and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in the genre.

I sat with my sister one day, watching Lord of the Rings, when this came to me.

I had just gotten into a heated 辩论 with one of my friends. When I gave my calm, simple, honest opinion about Twilight, she started yelling at me, telling me, "You just don't understand Kassie, 你 just don't understand. 你 just don't know..." and so on and I wanted to 拍击, smack, 味道 her.

Well, as we watched the Fellowship of the Ring, I realized that Aragorn did the same thing as Edward in New Moon.

Now, before any Aragorn 爱人 out there start yelling at me, let me explain!

I realized I didn't hate Aragorn for leaving...

It seems that nowadays when people mention the words ‘Twilight’, ‘Edward’ 或者 ‘Stephenie Meyer’ a huge 辩论 is formed. People are 分裂, 拆分 completely down the middle with their 爱情 或者 hate of the twilight saga, everything seen as either black 或者 white. So here is an opinion from one of the few stuck within the grey area (like, dislike and don’t care either way). Rip this opinion to shreds, 爱情 it 或者 hate it. Tell the world how much twilight rocks, sucks 或者 takes the complete piss out of teenage romance. But please remember this is my opinion and seeing as this place is all about...

I've seen yet another 评论 saying people who thought the Edward/Bella relationship was abusive have either not read the book 或者 have simply 'misunderstood' it, and am completely losing my ability to politely respond when I hear that, so I'm 写作 this so in future I don't even have to respond, I can link to here and avoid the risk of snapping and going on an all 锦标 rant. I'm pointing out at the start that I'm not accusing all Twilighters of this, there are lots of Twilight 粉丝 on the spot who are able to give their opinion in a pleasant, grown up way, and I really appreciate that (virtual...

Okay most of the Twilight- Haters would say that Edward is too old for Bella and that make him paedophile but I don't think so (not only because I am twilight fan) is because that Edward is literally 17 and he feels and thinks as a 17 年 old. I mean take someone 你 know is really smart that doesnt mean they are have lived any longer than 你 have they just learnt 更多 in the years they have lived. I bet 你 they still act their age.
To be quite honest I know a programme that is aired in India as well as here where the Guy is at least 55 years old with 5 kids three of them older than the girl...
