well my mom's co-worker was a huge fan so she lent us the first season. i didn't want to watch it, i thought it was lame, cuz i had heard a little about it. i was all "but i don't WANNA watch!" i was super whiny. then at the end of "welcome to the hellmouth" i was like "next one, next one! we have to watch the next one!" she still teases me about it. i started in may and ended in august. the funny part is when i finished season 7 my mom was starting season 4! i cheated a little, like when she told me i could watch two episodes, i would watch 4. :)

Although I thought the movie was cute, I scoffed at the idea of a TV series based on it. I never paid any attention to it until I happened to catch an episode on tv from 5th season. Spike's character instantly peaked my interest and I checked the tv schedule and found out that they were going to be showing reruns of seasons 1-5. So I watched and was hooked! When they ran the reruns again I taped them and showed them to my sister- by the time we were on season 2, I'd bought the dvds!

I was living with my dad and stepmonster, which I hated. So I was hiding from them in my room and I watched the pilot. It was definitely a good escape.

My sister was really into it and I was way against it though I'd never seen it. She told me a lot about it and made me watch OMWF and then S3LW and then I started from the beginning, finished it all within a few weeks and bought all of them. I became obsessed while still feeling like it wasn't good. But I guess I got over that now.

it happened about a year ago well i was obsessed with Charmed and i had heard about Buffy but i thought it would be rubbish(oh how wrong i was) but one day when there was nothing on Fox i happened to notice that on scifi Buffy was about to begin. So i thought why not? if i hate it i can just turn it off. I think the first episode i saw was Amend, i thought the bangel relationship was beautiful and by the end i was hooked. so i watched it every day at 5 but i also began renting the DVDs i finshed the first 3 seasons in about a month coz you had to rent it disc by disc and ihad trouble convincing my mum to give me money. But then i freaked coz the DVD shop only had the first 3 seasons but luckily my mum knew someone who was totally into buffy and she lent me the rest. Oh and i got my sister into it as well she was like no this is crap but i made her watch it anyway and now its her fav show!

lol ok I've heard about the show numberous of times but it never interested me until I was flipping through the channels one day and saw this episode where this nonshirted man was talking nonsense to Buffy in what appeared to be a building of somekind and he finally rests his body on this Cross and burns himself while the camera pans out showing Buffy crying. I didn't find out until I started watching the show on who that was or why that happened.
It was season 7 Spike and Buffy were in a church and Buffy finally found out that Spike had a soul. So anyway that's how I started to watch Buffy... that one little scene got me teary and I felt so bad for the guy for some reason and Buffy and I had no idea who they really were. so yeah. lol oh and even though I didn't see that ep until like a few years back I didn't start watching the show until July of last year because I finally found it on the internet. lol :P So yeah that's my story.

It was a show about vampires, I loved vampires, but I didn't get truly hooked till the second season when Spike and Drusilla showed up.

id seen the first season when i was like 10 or something and i was scared so then when i was like 13 my best mate was obsessed with it this was like 6 years ago now and i was obessed with britney spears so i made her listen to all of britneys albumns and she lent me all of her buffy vids i think england was up to season 5 at the time but i obv didnt know any spoilers so i watched them became immediatly hooked on bangel and xander and cordy, not much has changed opinion wise since then apaert from i actually very much dislike angelus spike dru n darla and now i love them!!

a friend of mine loves buffy and i was over her house and she put the episode hush on and i loved it. and then a little while later i was in a store and they had buffy boxsets for £15 and i ended up collecting them. good times good times =D

Heard about it by my best friend who was hooked in it even though she only read it in transcripts. I downloaded the first season (which took me a month!), started it but the really low quality in picture and the lack of anything extraordinary made me give it up. Plus, the really, really slow downloading got in my nerves! But, my friend was really hooked so, when i got a faster adsl connection i got s2 in 10 days and was hooked in it right from its very first episode. When Angelus showed up, i got addicted and as a result, when s3's turn for download came, i couldn't wait another 10 days. So, i started searching for a site to watch it online and found this one.
Inside a month i finished the series and after a month, the dvds came finally to my country. I bought immediately the rest of the seasons i didn't have except s7 (S7 had regrettably nothing extaordinary for me...).

I'd seen a couple episodes but never really got into the story or anything, plus I was a little young to understand everything happening in the show. Then two summers ago my best friend and I were in a video store and were wondering what to watch. We came across the first season of Buffy, reminisced about how scary we used to think it was and decided to rent it. We watched the entire season in one day, and then continued to watch each season in succession over the rest of the summer. I now own every season of Buffy and Angel, not to mention comics and various books. I definitely got hooked!

It's all David Boreanaz's fault. Honestly.

As a nice hunk of you know I run a video store and thus I get free rentals. When you get rentals for free you can't leave your shift without taking something - it's against the rules or something like that, you just HAVE to take something. I had been doing some CSI, into after the season six (I believe) finale, and had seen pretty much all of them so I thought I would try Bones. Over about three days I went through them until the last disk which somebody wouldn't return (I completely abused my power and stalked her account, waiting for her to return it, even calling with a "friendly reminder" when she hit 5 days late). I was going bonkers. I then wondered around the store for about half an hour deciding what I wanted to take out, complaining aloud to myself about the bloody woman who can't get through 4 episodes in over a week - honestly!

It was then that I saw the cover for season two, with David on the front. I had always written it off as a stupid teen soap opera show with no value at all but I wanted to close out and leave so I just grabbed the first three disks of season one (the entire season) and rented them out. When I got home I put one in with completely anticipating that I would watch about an episode and a half and shut it off. I did the entire season in one sitting.

me and my daughter (she was about 3) were watching tv and up popped a vamp as i was clicking through the channels , my daughter shut up talking for the first time in like 30 mins so i left it on and became an instant btv fan

me and my buddy were having another crazy sleepover.Once our sugar rush was over we decided to watch a movie. I was looking in her movie set and i pointed at buffy and asked "Hows this?" then she stared at me for a long time and said that she cant believe that i have never watched it.I saw the first 3 episodesand i was hooked.I stayed up all night watching the 1st season...when i finishe season 3 i begged myu mom to watch it with me cuz it AWSOME but she said no...But she saw an episode and now she is almost as obsessed with it as me.

My story's not nearly as interesting as any of you guys. Way back when the first season aired I had no cable, and thus the only channel I ever really watched was WB11. I remember being in the middle of a show one day when that first cheesy promo for Welcome to the Hellmouth came on. I didn't really give it much thought, until a few days later when the series premiere was about to start, and I thought, what the heck, why not and so I watched it. I've been hooked on BtVS ever since.

Me and my parents were invited at their friend's and their sons watched Buffy. That's how I discovered it. I was only 8 years old and I really enjoyed! Thanks to them for making me discover this awesome show! :D

Eh when Season 1 was on tv the first time around I always used to pay out a friend that watched it (I'd watch it with her, but I didn't like it that much). But, when it got to season 3/4 (I can't remember which) I actually started getting really into it too. So, I got laughed at but kept watching.

My boyfriend bought me Season 1 on DVD & I've been hooked ever since.

You all make me feel old! I was sixteen when Buffy was sixteen. I was flipping through the channels and saw the very end of Tabula Rasa when Spike and Buffy kissed. I'd never seen a full episode before and didn't watch one again for years, but the scene never left me. A few weeks ago I was bored and saw that my library had Buffy on DVD so I checked out the seasons they had. (Season 6 was out and still is out. I'm on the waiting list.) And thanks to Debs and ArabellaElfie, I've watched more season 6. I watched OMWF online and became completely obsessed with Spuffy.

Yay Callstories! Another Spuffy has joined the ranks...soon Debs and I shall be able to launch our army (I wasn't supposed to say that aloud, was I Debs?)....

What army? do you plan to kill all banglers while getting vamped by spike? lol

i would love to join that army! do i need training? perhaps a boot camp where we learn every little fact about spuffy and watch every last detail on the screen for hours until we can recite scenes! using the power of our own voices and knowledge we will soon morph all of the mislead bangelers into spuffiers! can i be one of the commanding officers?

ok so I was at Walmart one day with my grams and I was really into the TV show Heroes and that was like the only thing I would watch so my grams picked up Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 1 at Walmart and said "you should watch this I heard it's supposed to be good" and I said "Buffy the Vampire Slayer? that sounds so stupid" and she made me get it she said "if you don't watch it then we can take it back" so then months later I was extremely bored and I was flipping through the channels on tv and I saw Buffy the Vampire Slayer come up so I watched literley (sorry for the incorrect spelling) 2 seconds of it, it was actually the episode Doomed the part when Buffy and Riley are in the Earthquake and that was all I saw and I turned it off really quick after the couple of 2 seconds and I was like thinking in my head that was really weird oh whatever it's not like I have anything else better to do, so I went upstairs got Season 1 of it from my room and started watching it and I really liked it and now it is my all time favorite show ever!!!!!!!! <3

I never watched the show (or Angel) when it was on TV. I was watching something on TV and saw a promo for an episode of Bones. I thought it looked like a cool show so I looked on Netflix and they had Bones on instant play. I watched the pilot, loved the show and especially David Boreanaz. After I got caugt up with Bones I was flipping through stations and came across Buffy. Well, there was David again, need I say more. Back to Netflix and Buffy and Angel were there. Now I own Buffy, Angel and Bones (complete series) and I watch them all the time.

I was still living in Sweden when my friend came to me in school and told me about a new tv series that was about to start and when the day came we watched it in seperate homes and afterwards i phoned him and we both liked it :-). I`ve been a fans ever since :-)

I agree it's all the fault of David Boreanaz. I saw a promo for a Bones episode (season 4). I thought it looked interesting. Then I was on Netflix and saw Bones series was available for streaming instantly. I started with the pilot episode and was hooked. I watched 4 seasons in about 2 days. I remembered then that David played on Angel. ( it was on early morning in re-runs and friend of mine used to watch it). I went looking for Angel on netflix and found Buffy and Angel both complete series available to stream. I started with Buffy because that's where Angel was introduced. I watched the 1st three seasons of Buffy, then switched and watched all five seasons of Angel. Then went back to Buffy and finished the series. I now have the complete series of all three shows and watch them all the time. I usually jump around and watch certain episodes. Every once in a while I will start at the beginning and watch them in order. but yes, it's David's fault. Wouldn't have watched any of them if he wasn't in them but once I did I got hooked.

Well I was (and still am) obsessed with "How I met your mother" and Alyson Hannigan plays Lily Aldrin, my favourite character. I got really obsessed with her and wanted to know what films and series she did before HIMYM. Well, so I watched American pie 1-4, Date movie, the veronica mars episodes with her, bla bla. Long story short, of course I saw she played in BTVS and thought: "Oh man, a silly teeny horror show for girls, I don't want to watch it." But after all, I forced myself to watch the first season, and I thought it was ok, not more. Simply for girls. But prophecy girl was pretty good, so I started watching season 2, and well, season 2 changed my mind completely!!! Thanks to ALYSON HANNIGAN

I love hearing or reading about how fans got into the show.

Originally I wanted nothing to do with Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I thought it was going to be just like the movie. If it came on after a show I just watched I would turn it immediately. My best friend was into it and he tried to get me to watch it but I resisted every time. Then I saw the commercials for season 6 and them talking about Buffy dying as well as the show moving from The WB to The CW. And that's what intrigued me, a show that killed of it's main character and I wanted to see how they would bring her back as well as the show switching networks.
I slowly got into it as Buffy was trying to cope with being brought back from the dead and then her "relationship" with Spike. In between episodes my friend would give a little backstory on the show that really got me wanting to see more. By the end of season 6 I was addicted Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Before the premiere of season 7 I got caught up on the entire series watching reruns on FX and the dvds.
