stella77 Maybe it's because I have been very happily married for years, but the intimacy of this hug seems much more natural and appropriate than a rapturous or desperate kiss, given the nature of the context. This kind of embrace reinforces the truth that they draw strength and comfort from and provide the very same for one another. That heavy analysis aside, I love a good, passionate snog!

HumbleQueen Oooooh, Stella, that is so my sentiments on this scene and coming from a happy married point of view also, especially regarding the circumstances of what was about to happen in their married life. The intimacy and comfort she was giving him and he her made this perhaps my all time favorite Arwen embrace (and scene) and the whole tenor of the entire scene was so real. I don't think a kiss would have added to the sensuality of the moments they shared here, accentuated by the way he was looking at her throughout, beginning when he was seated at the desk and she at the pole. Honestly, I found this scene so realistic respecting what was being portrayed (I know much of it was because of B/A) that from my perspective it actually helped lessen the "pain" of the disappointments of episode 13. I cannot tell you how many times I've looked at my clip of this. For me, it left a very sweet savor in my mouth of what Arwen is to me. Glad at least I can remember this as my official onscreen farewell from Arwen.
