Merlin 4.03 Deleted Scenes Five - A/G

EpicArwen God. That would have totally piggy backed to the "He didn't do it for Camelot" scene the ep before. Both completely open and honest with each other, not keeping secrets no matter how scary/uncertain they are.

RosalynCabenson why? this is really torture...how can they be so mean keeping something that sweet from us?

HumbleQueen I'm absolutely convinced this was omitted in the interest of time. Also, this would have given Gwen too much attention in the magic issue. The initial scripted scene would have served one purpose. To accentuate the strength of the A/G relationship, and this episode could not afford to waste any minutes on that. It was essential that every minute as possible accentuate the Merlin/Arthur magic thing. Again, here is why I feel better. I think they couldn't get it all in. My feelings of them rejecting Arwen for some hidden unknown purpose are starting to fade. In this episode they were intent on not letting anything jam out the M/A thing. No, I don't like it. No, I think they could have done better. But I hope you understand why I feel better from what I was initially thinking when I posted the article about the missing scenes. I'm starting to feel Dale's tweet more and more.

Itasmallworld I get you point HQ, but some of the cut scene could have still been done without detracting from the A/M thing. I an only hope they do better in the future.

kbrand5333 This scene feels awkward to me; forced. Gwen wouldn't have just up and asked him "I saw you two riding out, where were you going?" I do like the "I don't want to have any secrets from you" line, though.

HumbleQueen Well, in the mind of "whoever," I think they may have thought it would detract. We all realize how powerful these two can be in any scene. Arthur telling Gwen he doesn't want secrets from her would be totally realistic and again would have portrayed the depth we know should be there at this point. I repeat, it didn't fit the agenda. We know G/A should be allowed to coexist with M/A, Itsasmallworld, but at the risk of repeating myself, I think it's difficult for the Merlin whoevers to do that. Kim, I totally agree. Hadn't thought about that part of it.

EpicArwen I think it depends on where the scene was in relation to the others. Sorry--can't remember the order here. If they'd had the conversation about not wanting his dad to die and him leaving upset like they actually showed in the ep, I can see Gwen prompting him with the "Where'd you go" afterward, because when he left he seemed determined to do SOMETHING to help his dad. Her concern for him and his state of mind at that point would allow for the question. If it was before that scene though, then I agree, it would seem a bit forward. Then again, we've not really been able to see much of their interaction up to this point. But what we have seen has shown that they're definitely on a different level in their relationship. They're more in tune with each other (if that's possible), more open with their feelings and affections. So maybe the question wouldn't have been out of order after all. Sorry if that didn't make sense. I'm kinda floating on meds right now.

lv2rt OMG!!!! This is what we have been discussing about keeping secrets. I'm just pissed now!!!! This was not about time. I'm sure of it. All of these deleted scenes are about something else and my thoughts about this is not good. Can someone PLEASE tell me how these deleted scenes were released? Where did they come from? They have just gutted Arthur and Gwen's relationship. There is something up and I don't like the implications at all.

angelmygirl with you there. i am not too sure I understand the motive of this whole thing. I think that we all know how important the arthur/merlin relationship is already. they are willing to die for each other, but at this point i m not sure where Arthur and Gwen are. I expected that they would acting more like a couple in this season because of the way Arthur acted in the last three or so episodes of s3. so far it feels more like the beginning of s3 all over again. In my opinion instead of going forward they seem to have gone back. i feel they should have shown their closeness in preparation of the engagement, coming wedding and crowning. I think they will end up rushing things again like they did in s2. I would have preferred a drawn out development in the relationship and they could have utilized all four episodes for that. also for someone who is in love, Arthur doesn't spend enough time with his bride to be. very frustrating. they should have someone else to write the love story. they are not too good at it. What a waste coz Angel is a damn great actress.
